A version 6 if you can find a clean one that fits your budget.

or even v-limited of either?
The V-Limited spec adds back in most of the toys the Type R omits as standard, aircon being the main one. Also has a "long" fifth gear, which can feel a bit out of place given the otherwise frenetic nature of the car. Big gap between 4th and 5th can be problematic if you're pressing on too.

any differences between the two?
Between the versions 5 and 6? Minor spec revision to the engine makes it a little more robust, and produces a couple of bhp more in standard trim. Cosmetic differences include front lip spoiler and kick to trailing edge of boot spoiler. Minor trim revisions inside too - different colour centre console and instrument panel shroud.

The 5 would be a V Limited and the six would be a VI Limited
You're mixing the names up a bit there. There's an STi version 5 Type R V-Limited and an STi version 6 Type R V-Limited.

personally I would go for the VI Limited
If you meant the version VI Type R V-Limited, you'd be right.

All gets a little bit semantic, but to the best of my knowledge the V in V-Limited was for the version five so it was actually a version five limited. The version 6 would be a VI Limited as I think the owners manual would comfirm. But I am with you. I reckon V Limited sounds much better...bit like V Spec!

Bang on with the differences though, the limited puts back a bit of the creature comforts that the R anb RA take out. (A/C, electrics etc.)

AFAIK, the V in V Limited is roman numerals for 5 and the VI is 6, this has been misused on here for years like calling models sti7 and sti8 they aint officially only on SN .

Take a look at the official STI Limited brochures and the names on the front covers, clearly says V Limited and VI limited.

I use tpo have an STI 6 Type R V-LTD. All i can say is that it was a brilliant car. There are a few changes between the 5 and 6. These are the front seats, front lip spoiler and the rear spoiler. Appart from that they are identical. Personally i think the version 6 is more exclusive compared to the 5 as it was the last of the classic shapes.

cheers

Subaru have been using "V-Limited" since the STi version 2, so that kinda screws your theory (there is no V in II, or III!).

As you say, it all gets a bit semantic, but the "V-Limited" name is quite definitely a specific name in itself, unless the two translated owners manuals I've had over the last few years have been incorrect.

You been smoking that Jamacan old Holborn again? I think you must mean the 'early RA'. The R and most later RA's had aircon and all the toys.

The V Limited does have the taller 5th though, which is about the best thing cos people always look and say 'be nice if the seats matched'. So you have to tell them why they are differeent.
