Which "Halfords lacquer" are you talking about? The aerosol stuff is less than perfect, but the main reason for that is that it's an aerosol. If you're in a tight spot and don't want to buy/rent a compressor and a decent spray gun, it'll do the job - but you'll need to cut it back to get a decent finish.

The Holts stuff they sell at the back of the shop is pretty good, but that obviously needs to be sprayed properly...

yep the aerosol stuff (Halfords Own)

I noticed that they appear to do two types Lacquer & Clear Lacquer, now these could be the same, but just different stock, but it does leave a dull(ish) finish to it, that doesnt match the lacquer on our scoobs

steve get yourself up to autopaints in st helens and speak to mark. his aerosols are much better than halfords. depending on what your'e painting, flat back slightly with 1500 wet & dry then use farecla G3 rubbing compound to regain the shine & then polish with 3M hand glaze ( in the yellow & black bottle ) and watch the baby shine.

I bought the "Halfords Laquer" (silver can etc) and it gave a very very matt finish (my front bumper now looks shat). However, when i was painting my fog covers i bought a different one from there "Simonz" for acrylic, and it seems spot on.

St.Helens Autoelectric in Peasley Cross do bespoke touch up paints, aerosols and clear lacquer, I got some to touch in a scrape on my alloys a few weeks ago.

Not sure if that is who Phoenix1 reccommends, but they are ok there too!

the reason it doesn't look as good is because it is probably cellulose or acrylic paint. If you want it to be the same as the car you will need good quality 2 pack paint. much better stuff but not available in aerosols for obvious reasond
