Does anyone else have problems starting there scoob after a stall?
My 98uk does. Stalled it this morning coming off the drive and then it just doesnt want to know for about 5-10 mins?
Is there a reason. I remember this happened when i first brought the car as well..

Yes, I've had this on my UK MY97. I think the ECU get's it's knickers in a twist and floods the engine.
I find it's best to floor the throttle whilst cranking, then after about 5 seconds back off to about 1/4 to 1/3. Usually works for me.
This only happens every blue moon. But if it keeps happening on a regular basis, accompanied by difficult hot and cold starting, then you may have a duff crank sensor.

When you stall it, there's a tendency ot flood it too.
On restarting, DON'T touch the throttle: the engine is still cold, so do a cold start. If it IS flooded try continuiong cranking it on the starter, and gently depressing the throttle to the floor. This is supposed to start a flooded engine, and works on my '98

thanks all for the replys,
Hopefully the cranks ok cos it starts fine normally cold or hot.
I thought maybe it was the ecu getting in a muddle
so you reckon slight throttle and Dont stall in the first place

ecu overfuels engine after stall.
has been well documented from the early 90's on loads of fuel injected cars.
continually cranking an engine that refuses to start will soak your cat in petrol potentially busting it and leading to MOT failure. (if you still have the cat in of course)
