Question

Put this in drivetrain, but no replies.....any help much appreciated....

Hi Folks

I have RB5 with prodrive and the turbo has started to occasionally make a new noise.
The turbo has always made a bit of a whistle and then there is the whistle of the induction roar.
But when I get to about 4K revs there is a noise like a bit of air escaping from somwhere. It is not the normal turbo spinning noise that I normally have.
I am getting it serviced next month and will ask them to look at the turbo and the pipes related.
Does anyone have ideas/experience on this sort of issue?

Many thanks

Jas

Hi Marc

In the book it is 237bhp standard
I have heard that this is underestimated and it is more like 245...
Mine is totally standard.
Fun to drive
Thinking of buying one??

Check your intercooler pipes m8. Especially the one going to turbo.

Might be loose.

might have a split in one of the pipes...do a check before your service otherwise you may cause damage before then.

FYI if interested....
Checked under engine bay and found a plastic carrier bag jammed in the engine bay!!!
Removed it and noise seems to have dissapperared.
Very strange one but a happy ending

Thanks

Probably a couple of weeks as that is when the noise started.
It wasnt covering any vents or anything just jammed down the side of the engine bay!!

Twilight zone.....
