I dont think any of them do as standard.....not WRX's anyway, i know mine doesnt (03 WRX), maybe its just the new age ones that dont as standard....i have often contemplated getting one fitted though, sometimes the standard gearbox feels a little too long throw for my liking, like im in danger of grinding!!! Not good!

and as ive already had the gearbox re-built and parts replaced (due to part failure anyway) then that merely fueled the desire for one!

I was thinking about this for my 02 Bugeye, I guess we have the same gearbox ??. The change I don't like is between 2nd and 3rd as it seems to be several inches (I'm old OK...centimetres) to push it up and over to the right.

To be honest with you, i think that it would just be better with shorter throws all round, hell im only 23 and im saying that.... i think its just that you seem to have to be more careful with 3rd to 4th and then 4th to 5th. I think that you do have to be very direct with the box, make sure its "in" before you bring the clutch up.....what do you think?

Before moving to the Scoob I had an MR2 for 13 years with a short throw box and in the Scoob I struggle to get the gear in before my brain says lift up the clutch....

my Scooby also has an annoying habit of raising the revs on changing up which doesn't help either. Shorter throws on all gears would be easier but I mention the second to third change because 1st gear acceleration is over before you can think about it and thrashing it in any gear above third can be a recipe for losing the licence...

Neilo, the wrx doesn't have a quick shift as standard, it's the sti models that have it.

Midlife, i have the same problem with the revs going up on change up......i think im going to have to change my driving style to accomodate but its not an easy thing to do. I think for the 200 odd quid it would be to get the short throw one fitted it might be worth doing.
