If you have an import car, especially a sti model it can be a problem as these cars are designed to run on jap fuel which has an octane rating of 100 ron, our fuel standard unleaded is 95 ron and optimax is 98 ron. Using a lower octane fuel can cause detonation (or pnking) and prolonged detonation = melted pistons = lots of cash for an engine rebuild. If you have an import get it checked out and run it on optimax, preferably with a good octane booster.
