We all know there are lots of good things about owning a subaru, but the must ridiculousy bad thing is mudflaps. Both in availability and suitable styles. Ive come up with a list of available options (I can find) and collected them here, If I have anything wrong or missed something please add it.

(and I still cant decide what ones to get).

1. OEM Subaru STI WRC style rally mudflaps full set cost £350 + fitting (Ouch) I personally do not like the style or the price.

Rear Mudflap set - SWRT - Blue
part no: ST960114S030
£ 175.00 (including VAT at 17.5%)
Front Mudflap set - SWRT - Blue
part no: ST960114S020
£ 175.00 (including VAT at 17.5%)
Plus fitting all four £25.00

2. Copies of the STI style ones available from £100 upwards some are better than others ( I still dont like them).

Rally Style £100 (x2)

Scoobyworld flaps £149.99

3. The Subaru universal flaps are designed for the my01/02 cars they will fit the my03 but the rear bumper on the my03 wrx has a cut out that the flap does not mould round,

Rear Mudflaps (pair)- not STi Prodrive
part no: SACC1422
£ 64.95 (including VAT at 17.5%)
------------------------------------------
Front Mudflaps (pair)- not STi Prodrive
part no: SACC1421
£ 64.95 (including VAT at 17.5%)

Here they are fitted to a my02 you can see the slight difference in the rear bumper compared to a my03.

4. Prodrive "stone deflectors" apparently these were originally made for the p1 but will fit all impreza's with plastic sills (sp)

Part number is SACC2145 and apparently they cost £8.50 + VAT each, could be the prodrive bargain of the year.

5. Make your own STi WRC style mudflaps

Starting at £35

6. And these

Cheap Flaps.

£20 including the subaru logo, reckon the first sign of "mud" and these things will be dangling off the bumper, quicker than you can say "£350 for effing mudflaps".

Dam the Kaylan ones (http://www.plastics4performance.co.uk/mudflaps.htm) are only £60 for a set of 4 directly fron Jon @ Kaylan. £130 mark up now thats what I call profit.

are the kaylan direct ones moulded to fit the car model exactly or are they a generic shape that will need cutting ??.

if they are pre-moulded £60 is a bargain.

Mud flaps look naff IMHO............unless you own a Volvo estate

Useful on a rally car in the gravel stages but on a road car

I paid £149.95 for my Scoobyworld flaps for WRX 03 and the fit and finish is first class and can thoroughly recommend them.

Regards

John

I got the Prodrive stone deflectors fitted on the front of my STi8(do they fit on the rear). Have to do a slight mosd to fit MY03 cars, just slotting of the top mount hole. Fit a treat dont look like Volvo mud flaps but seem to stop the stones peppering the front wings ..................
Well worth considering.
DBY any chance of posting some pics? Are these front and rear?

STEVE.................

My car came with the cheap and nasty plastic Subaru ones - I live down a really long and twisty gravel road - and they have not got a mark on them....yet!

Sorry steve after recent Lazer Jammers, mudflaps f&R,10K Service I have no money left for digi cam afraid so no pics. However mechanic at Suburu dealer thought that the mud flaps were the real thing until I told him that they were from Scoobyworld and half the price!! he was impressed. They are made from the same material as the official Suburu ones and have proper alu mounting brackets and fixings and I would not put anything on my car if it didnt look right.

Regards

John
