Firstly, the RB5 wheels will fit.

Don't like the sound of bare metal inside the engine bay though - sounds like the front end's been partially resprayed.

If you're interested in buying, make sure you HPI it.

Yes the RB5 wheels will fit, so long as the Type R doesn't have massive brakes fitted (if they have Subaru written on them they are standard so you won't have a problem). But you may have problems getting a spare if you damage one as I've heard you can only get them from Subaru dealers and you need to have an RB5 to buy them, you may want to check since as I say its just what I heard.

AFIK the under bonnet and boot should be painted, just not laquered so will seem dull.

Try a search for more info on buying tips on Type R's as they can be a lot of trouble if they haven't been looked after, more so than UK cars.

BEEN DOING THE GROUND WORK LEADING UP TO GETTING ONE FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW,,BUT ALWAYS OPEN TO GOOD ADVICE,, THANKS GUYS.

THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN UPRATED TO TAROX ITEMS BUT I THINK THE RB5 WHEELS SHOULD FIT. AND THE UNDERSIDE IS ACTUALLY PAINTED BUT IS A LIGHTER SHADE OF GREY,,SIMILAR TO THE COLOUR OF PRIMER.

ITS NOT BEAR METAL!! BAD CHOICE OF WORDS IN MY INITIAL QUESTION!

SPOKE TO A FELLOW OWNER TODAY WHO SAYS HIS IS THE SAME COLOUR UNDER THE HOOD AND BOOTLID WHICH WAS REASSURING..

ANY OTHER TIPS GUYS??

Quite. Apart from pressing your caps lock button, be as certain as you can that the car has been driven within safe limits.

If, for example, the car has been here a while and the owner doesn't volunteer that the car has either been remapped, or run on Optimax/Super Unleaded plus octane booster, be wary. Be even more cautious if it's been modified.

If, however, you see a KnockLink in the cockpit, take it as a positive sign that the owner is aware of the dangers of knock and has taken steps to make sure the engine isn't suffering.
