Question

Picked up my 1st scobb on Saturday morning. Its an absolute beauty and I'm over the moon although one thing is really troubling me.

I purchased the car on Saturday (overcast and cloudy) and the paint finish was really top class but yesterday morning was really sunny and even whilst walking past the car, the surface scatches all over it are really bad. It looks as if the car is covered in smears.

I tried autoglym tar remover which seemed to make matters worse, and I tried autoglym super resin which helped (ever so slightly) but it took about 30 mins to complete an area about 10 cm square. This result was still not good enough at all.

Can anyone suggest what the problem is and perhaps let me know a way to overcome it. The car itself is top drawer and I'm over the moon but I'm slightly saddened by its paintwork in direct sunlight.

Any help will be really appreciated.

By the way its a classic ona W plate - Deep Blue Mica

Thank you

Thank you!!!!

Sounds like you need to speak to Mark Underwood aka Waz Wizzard on mark@swissol.com or waxwizard@blueyonder.co.uk.
I'm sure the Swissol products he uses would help to eliminate surface sratches.

This problem is part and parcel of buying a scooby . You get to the garage / private address and see the car of your dreams and get so damn excited your eyes kind of smooth out dents and scratches . Only when you get home with YOUR car and look objectively round it you start to notice dings, swirl marks etc. It doesnt sound anything too serious in your case, i'd give it a really thorough clean with car shampoo, then set about it with a real good polish . Depending on your finances (soon to be drained anyway with all kinds of new toys for the car) you could pay a professional to give her the once over, WAX WIZARD is supposed to be quite good. Sorry i can't connect you to a thread with their details on .
Enjoy the car, and many happy miles ,otoring

Thumbs up

Swisoil is ment to be the dogs (have a look in the members gallery for pictures ), but it does cost an arm and leg.I can think of 2 other things that might be wirth a try .First try one of the coloured polishes , when I had a black BMW (with swirls on the paitwork ) the only thing that would get it looking nice was Colour magic (turtle wax i think ) . The second thing is to try zimoil polish , Halfords sell it (about £12), it smells good enough to eat , but its got lots of wax in it and after a few coats it brings the paint up a real treat . Worth giving these a try as they wont cost the earth and you might be surprised .

All the best
Dave
