I've been looking at a couple of my 94 wrx's and i was wonderin what the shiney square top thing is in the top left of the engine bay between the panel filter and the yellow cap res,..and the main Q of WHY did one scoob av it and the other did'nt,.....(is it somethin to do with the turbo housing)?

one scooby had modified downpipe and they didnt out the heat shield back on?

 

Shiney square thing? You on about the top of the MAF sensor? It would sit between the airbox and the induction pipework? Or do you mean the resonator box?



Some people take out the res boxes, makes the car a little more noisey.

No,....just up and right abit from the res box...is that the washer fill up its under..YOURS SEEMS TO BE BLACK..( only the end of its square!.......can u see it...cheers 4 the pic!

ah ha.....my Q ansered.cheers lads.........BUT....does it need it ,..and if they modded the downpipe did they not replace the heat shield because ...A)it would'nt fit back on?
B) they could'nt b bothered?

 

That would be answer B there mate, they do go back on but people like me just cant be arsed with the hassel......Personaly I dont think they are needed.
