Hi got a chip in my windscreen and am gonna get it replaced through tesco insurance (£50 excess) I think they use RAC auto windscreens. Is there anything I should be wary about?

Keep pressure on them to get it done. Mine got booked in with RAC, they turn up two days later, and said "we have a pattern part, but recommend you fit a genuine one - which do you want to do?". As there was no rush, I said "fine, go genuine", was told it would be "2-3 days". 4 weeks later, chased them, "Oh we're struggling to find a part, but will call you back". Tried again following week, same story. Tried again a week later, to discover they'd never bothered ordering it in the first place - once they did, it was 2-3 days.

I had to have a new screen in my 02 sti i was told by a friend in the body trade to watch the fitter very carefully as when they cut the old screen out with a cheese wire they can scratch the paint off under the bonding that holds the screen in, if not properly treated before the new screen is fitted a couple of years on you could see rust bubbles coming from around the new screen. He told me that he knows of a case where this happened and when the owner tried to claim on his body warrenty they would not pay

Had MY03 windowscreen replace with 2000miles on her .

When they replaced it, they covered the vin number on the front .(well the new screen had no open bit)

This was done by AUTOGLASS !

Told by fitter not to drive over 70mph in the first 2 hours ,so it would set .....

And watch the front wings near the top of the wheel arches. When Autoglass rplaced mine their fitters had leant on the front wings and put a dent in the top of each wing. I did not see the dents until a few days later.
They of course denied doing it. Cost me £45 to have then removed.

Check before leaving the garage if your not hsving it fitted at home.
