Shop raiders ****** games

Thieves smashed their way into a Newport shop and stole handfuls of expensive PlayStation computer games before driving off in a high-performance sports car at speeds of more than 100mph.

The gang broke into the Newport branch of Woolworths last night shortly before midnight and fled in a blue Subaru Impreza.

Police say the robbery has many characteristics in common with a similar break-in at the Dudley branch of the same store and are investigating the possibility the two crimes could be linked.

Police spokeswoman Sami Turner said the gang broke in by smashing the window and grabbing handfuls of games.

She said: "A number of the public reported the incident to the police and the car was seen driving at speeds of over 100 mph heading towards junction three of the M54."

Ms Turner said the car was recovered in the early hours of the morning having been abandoned in West Bromwich, near Birmingham.

It is believed the same car called at the 24 hour garage in Cosford shortly before the robbery, she added.

One witness was able to get a good look at one of the robbers and described him as white, with a spotty complexion and square jaw. He is believed to be about 5ft 10.

I saw this car with no plates on heading towards wolverhampton at 00.00 and 2 say it was doing 100mph is an understatment more like 130 mph as it ran the red lights. Just glad no other poor bxxxxxed was crossing lights that they went through. Question is Whos was it ?. It was a bugeye and very dark blue in colour and the speed it was doing it must have been doing (gallons per mile ) and not (miles pere gallon) and the little ***** got away with it i think? .But open verdict on that yet.

Would you bother taking all that risk for a handfull of computer games? Black market retail value £20 each.

Fckin wasters.

Whats the world coming too.

Now if they where racing away from Heathrow cargo hold with a zilloin quid, then fair enough.

Hope David Coulthard has a solid alibi for last night.

On a slightly more serious note Shrops, did you notify the police of your sighting?
