WRX03 PPP cut out & engine warning light?
#1
Experienced brief but severe cut out last night when accelerating at approx 4000rpm and lifted off (wasn't anticipating another car to appear where it did!)
Straight road & over 1/4 tank fuel so don't think fuel problem discussed often on this site, not least 'cos the orange "engine" light is now on permanently!
About to call garage - but recall this happening in demonstrator and being told something about emissions being exceeded...?

Sounds like you may have hit fuel cut and the ECU has seen overboost. It can happen on a cool damp evening.
Best get it checked out though. Would have thought the PPP map would have been conservative enough to allow for this.

Overboost also doesnt cause the Check Engine Liight to come and stay on either - dealer trip ASAP if I were you.......

Overboost will cause the CEL to come on and stay on- forget the exact code but its something like 'wastegate solenoid A low'.
I've seen it happen a couple of times on bugeyes.

That's what the dealer said. Basically if no other symptoms (there aren't)the light should go off in due course - but if not go in for a 'while you wait diagnostic'. Mmmm - didn't have this with my 6yr old Classic - but then again it didn't have 265bhp!

for those that care - the light went out after re-starting half a dozen times. No other symptoms - and hasn't done it again.
This is what I appreciate most about Scoobynet - ability to get good advice quickly, so when phone garage you have a bit more info to help guage your questions.
Thanks
