Question

Last friday on a track day at Hullavington I saw a guy in a Blue 1999 Impreza Turbo overtaking STIs(300bhp), 2 Ultimas(500bhp) and several Kit Cars with Bike Engines. When I asked him the BHP of his Impreza, he said its only pushing out 250bhp.
How can that be?

Wasn't there and don't know the circuit - but suspect something to do with driver ability perhaps?

If you get the chance at a track day get a very experienced or better still professional driver to take you round - doesn't matter what in, and more impressive if it's a 'slower' motor. Soon realise that experience counts for more than BHP unless on a motorway.

At least one of the STIs was owned by u-drivecars, and hence driven by people who've never been/had little experience of being on a track.

Ask Ed Moore the organiser, he has the Hullavington register, he won't give names, but he may give you the car's spec. I reckon it was the driver.

likely to be a good driver,

I compete in a 250bhp Impreza and regularly stuff such cars as Noble M12, NSX, 993 C4, Evo 6s, Stis etc etc - just because I can drive a car better than they

I reckon it might be the same chap that was at Keevil airfield a couple of weeks ago! Standard looking car, but the noise it made when on boost made me think it must have a monster turbo on it! Really roared

Cool

Sounds Credible!

I used to have a very tweaked Golf VR6 as did many members of Club VR6 - but on various Track Days at Castle Combe - I was able to keep up with / get past almost all of the VR6's in a Standard Audi A4 1.8T and a Golf 1.9 TDI 130. I just knew the circuit very well.
