Depends on how flexible your dealer is. Have a chat with them first. Some will let you do some mods but will say if the car has to be inspected remove them first.
Hope this helps

ok more detail, there is a garage near me, i used to take my out of warrenty classic there, i trust the mechanic, they specialise in rallying scoobs, had all my mods done by them - no warrenty so didint matter.
now i have a 5month old STi8, warrenty matters, now this garage are authorised to fit ppp, brand new, they are cheaper than subaru cos if labour, so i double checked with subaru warrenty if i could have them fit the ppp. subaru warrenty said without exception, as far as theyre concerned, you:
cannot service your car anywhere but subaru
cannot get another garage to fit subaru parts [in case they fit them wrong ??? meaning loss of warrenty
only upgrades they will accept are prodrive.... only fitted by an approved subaru dealer
top an bottom was this
if you get any part of your scoob tinkered with by any mechanice other than subaru approved, regardless of whether your putting subaru parts on or not, then your warrenty is void. period !
i even phoned citizens advice and trading standerds and there isnt a thing we can do.....
so regardless of what your dealer may tell you, if it ever came to the engine blowing crunch, youd be foobar
paul
be warned ! lol

Hey Nicebloke36
I thought only Subaru garages can fit PPP. One the prodrive web site it says that all parts are sold as a package and all Subaru garages will fit them. Does this mean that you can get PPP fitted at a garage other that a Subaru one? If so which one?

Let's get this straight, it is simply not possible that any dealer not a current Subaru UK authorised dealer can fit a performace package. The parts are not available to them. If they are suggesting they can then they are not fitting genuine parts.

Mike is correct in saying that the PPP can only be fitted at a dealer, but almost all other Subaru accessories are available and can be fitted at independant companies.
The interesting thing is this... If you have a PPP fitted, you void your factory warranty. Your warrenty is then supplied by Subaru UK. As they provide this warrenty and by fitting the PPP you surrender your factory warrenty, Subaru UK could then insist that the car is only serviced by a dealer. I'm not sure if they do insist upon this, or if it would be legal for them to do so as they do not point out that the mod voids your warrenty.

Let's get something else straight, all vehicles supplied through Subaru UK have a warranty provided by Subaru UK, not the 'factory' as you call it. Doesn't matter if it's first second or third year, Subaru in Japan are not providing the warranty.

well this is getting confusing, the information i provided was obtained from two main resources
1) subaru warrently helpline
2) trading standerds who said that car manufacturers still had the right to make thier own terms as they didnt under law need to provide anything other than factory rights or return

Sorry Mike, but Nick Wadeson, (Mike's collegue at Prodrive, for that don't know Nick) has already confirmed what I wrote above.
Nick explained to owners of Belgian/Dutch cars that they cannot have a PPP fitted in the UK as it voids the factory warranty. It must be fitted in the country of purchase as the price includes an allowance for that importer to take over the factory warrenty.
The provision of pan european factory warranties has applied for over a year now. The law is for a minimum of two years, but Subaru, along with every other Japanese manufacturer provides at least three years.

Not quite correct.
The warranty is valid across Europe but it is NOT provided (in this country at least) by the 'factory' ie FHI. Subaru UK buy the cars effectively without a warranty and cover all warranty costs from day 1 themselves.
I believe the same situation applies to some other European territories where the warranty is covered by the importer. Some countries like Germany and the US take the cars with FHI warranty, and every part that is fitted to vehicles supplied in these countries have to be approved via Japan or the warranty on affected systems will be invalidated.

I've just done some digging. The individual importer can provide the warranty, but it must be pan european and effectively seemless for the owner, irrespective of where the car is used/kept in the EC.
Servicing can be provided by any recognised garage, but only genuine parts, or parts of identical specification, may be used.
Nick explained that the PPP includes a fee for the warrenty provider in the country of purchase.

Quick read of the service warranty book does confirm what mike says that subaru uk supply the warranty.
Bit like going to comet and getting a warranty, then getting it repaired by dixons, doesnt happen

Need to add my knowledge, well facts, here regarding pan-European warranty specifically for Belgium imports.
I imported a WRX 03 direct from a Subaru Dealer in Belgium. It has a 3-year pan European warranty. Regarding getting work done at main dealers or competent specialists I have some good information.
Given that my car is a Belgium import my service schedule does not include the UK's 1,000-mile service. My 1st service is at nearly 10,000 miles. Because I actually want to change my oil at 1,000 miles and thought that £180 quid from the main dealer was a little steep (for an oil filter and ring £10 + 5W/30 oil say £40 + 30 mins labour) I have found out, through Subaru UK (IM) and then Subaru Belgium that I can get any garage to change my oil as long as they use official Subaru parts.
The only thing I have to do to keep my warranty is have the car officially serviced as per my schedule (every circa 10,000 miles) at the main dealer.
In summary, for my specific case, service as per maintenance schedule at the main dealer to keep warranty, but anything else can be done at a garage of your choice as long as they use genuine Scooby parts.
Sorry for the long "story".
-Steve.
