Hello, I am thinking about buying my first Scooby, but have very limited experiance with them, i am thinking about buying the following car from a dealer http://www.bulldogtwyford.com/database/details.asp?VehicleID=102

Sound like a good price for what it is?

Many Thanks

Matt

Take your time looking around as these can be had for very sensible money right now.

If you're buying from a dealer I'd stick to an approved used vehicle from a Subaru dealer since you'll have a pretty good warranty, which goes some of the way toward off setting the higher asking price. There should be plenty of room for haggling, too.

Does the one you're looking at have Subaru service history? Do you plan to keep your car standard? Also, have you driven the newer 'bugeye' Impreza that replaced the 'classic' shape?

The one above does have a full scooby history, and I will prob keep standard for now.

Have not yet drove the bugeye yet, would you recommend this?, also any good insurance companys I should be looking at?.

Thanks for your help.

All answers can be found on here. Use the search facility for more info.

Insurance wise, I'm with Greenlight - 01277 263030. Shop around, as usual.

Depends on your budget. Personally I don't fancy the bugeye, but for just a little more cash you get a newer shape car, more refined, possibly more relaxing to live with than the classic. Don't know if one would be easier to sell or subject to less depreciation etc, but to some people this might be a concern. I do recommend you drive them first.

Even if you're not thinking of modding it yet, if this is a possibility you might want to look for a car that already has some choice mods on it, or that is slightly older=cheaper to allow for future expenses.

Some of the cars in the For Sale section on here look very tempting.

One other thing. I think there's a big, no huge, service due at 3 years. If this hasn't been done then budget for around £500 from a dealer. This is the 3 year/60k mile cambelt service.

I like the shape of the classic, and it is about the only colour I really like, also it is in Mint with air con which is always a bonus!

A main dealer in Coventry has one on a V plate, 41k, £11,600. Should be able to get him very close to £11k. Might be worth a look.

I reckon its overpriced, you would do better if you got a very low mileage -20k one privately for less than that, still under warranty aswell for piece of mind!

Got the same year/colour car, immaculate cond, 22.5K miles, a/c, FSSH, new cambelt at 18000k miles under warrantly, warranty till Feb 04, PIAA driving lamps (only mod). I could be persuaded to part with it for that sort of cash. e-mail me if interested.
