Trax 2003 Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That'll be Litcho
I was on the 15:20 session getting stuck behind a white wrx. I didnt have power to get past on straights but he was damn slow thru corners! Coulda just let me passed and i'd have been gone after the first corner... Oh well, i'm not the only one who found this.
Heads up to "Off-Road Will19702001"
Track was definately top fun

SiDHEaD: Yeah I had the un-symmetrical mingers in mind, while I typed that, just plain daft, with that cheap and nasty looking perlecent paint!
Personally I would rather spend my money on performance mods than waste it on Pony body kids and paint jobs there is word for those lot, starts with c ends with unts! (sorry)

Tony, i understand and agree with you fully about not being born with a steering wheel in are hands, however, the reason why it is an issue is because this isnt the first occasion it has happened, at Japfest and at Rallyday the same thing happened, the car is quick down the straights, there is no getting away from that, but when it causes near accidents where he wont let you by, then that is an issue, then to say afterwards he was quicker and that he shouldn't have let us through, that is just arrogance.
Track ettiquete is not an option, its compulsory.

Yep, if you have a problem with another driver then talk and get it over with there and then.
I was at Knockhill last year and had a wee problem with a driver there. I was speaking to JohnS and the driver happened to walk across. So I had a chat with him about what had concerned me.
He had a differing view on the matter, but still listened to what I had to say. We spoke a bit longer, then parted company.
No further problems on track and I had a superb day.

I've been on track days with some very fast cars (bike-engined 7s, Ultimas, etc.) and as long as you act courteously there's no problem. Personally I think it's the fault of the organizers when these things happen -- the days that SIDC used to organize and those I've done with Bookatrack were very well done. Obviously although Trax is a SIDC-endorsed event, they're not responsible for running the track part of it.
Believe me, when it comes to tracking a Scooby there's no-one slower than me

NWS: i didn't fade very far behind - i'm just saying that he was pulling on me - you also have to bear in mind that i was coming out of the corners faster, thus helping me keep up. I did think about holding back but thought that if i caught him up again (which wouldnt have been hard) he'd be even less likely to move if i'd not been there tailing a while.
In the end i did hold back and then belt out of a corner right on the limit of my cars grip, which i wasn't particularly happy with doing (no insurance), creep past him on the straight and then have almost no room to brake for the corner (AND on the wrong line
)
Now if he had come out of said corner, briefly lifted off, let me safely past, then accelerated, he'd have followed me into the corner, and then i'd have been gone. No agro, no frustrated manouvres - more SAFE fun!
(It wasn't a sport unless they flame halfway round corners
)

You guys looked really slow compared to the white Evo that was in your session !!
You should have heard the cheer from the grandstand when it made the Scoobs look like they were going backwards

always the same problem with track sessions when the cars are of similar performance ie all scoobies in this case - any driver can put his foot hard down on the straight, but only good drivers apex the corners properly and hence make up time in the corners. I had the same problem at CC Rally day - should be more etiquette at these events - theres no shame in letting someone past! just let them go and drive your own drive. nuffsaid
I agree, i let a few sti7's and another red mica thru early on and it in no way impeded my session. It's also better not to have someone right up with you as it may put you off and cause you to be braking too late etc.
All i've gotta do now is buy myself some new pads and discs hahaha.

Iain: just been looking at the small bits of film my missus managed to get (she was at a crap place to view, on turn 1) and your car just rockets past, absolutely awesome!

I think he blew up. I passed him on the grass, smoking badly.
Good to see you all.
Litcho - got great footage of your pendulums though the complex. The missus says people were applauding
She has given me the nod to get a spec c but I need to do some thinking and see how the launch goes later this week. BTW you owe me a beer
Sadly I was having to baby the car round as it is stuck in limp mode due to faulty cam sensor, so if you thought the green 2002 wrx was slow, that is why.
All in all though a top day.

Ed, I'll use the £25 I owe you as a part deposit then

Good luck with the launch

From: R.I.P Piphead, at least you are home now :(
I was doing quite well as a first timer on a track
I let quite a few cars through, so I could drive my own session, thanks to all those who waved in acknowleadgement
I was fine through the bends & on the straights, but on the first few bends, my brakes were absolutly shot, and the vibration through the steering wheel was immense
So I had to brake earlier and ease off a bit sooner, so sorry if anyone got held up

Good to hear that people are similarly frustrated by the white wrx that only goes vaguely quickly in a straight line.
U know who u r Mr Welsh SIDC person, I've only been on track three times, once at JapFest & twice today. Unfortunately every single occasion has been totally ruined by this ignorant t0sser that seems to be p1ssing off everyone that I've spoke to today, @ Rallycar day & JapFest.
Sorry to hear that your car has blown up, but take note: learn some manners, use that indicator & move over and stop being a total c*nt. You are making yourself very unpopular.
I was going to have a serious word with you matey when u arrived back into the paddock after the 3:20 session, but you didn't turn up for obvious reasons, lucky for u I think.
U may think u are having fun out there proving how fast your car can go in a straight line, but like a s0dding milkfloat round corners. Believe me, u r ruining it for many (& I mean many) other people, not just this but forcing people to get past u in places not recommended by the track briefing.
Do us all a favour, either learn some manners or stay in Wales in future.
For interest, to prove that I'm hold no grudges, I help u out, apparently that are some really long straights in America, some Salt Flats in Arizona where they often try for land speed records, you'll love 'em mate, not a braking point nor corner in sight.
