Here we go again
Get a knocklink, run it on optimax and NF octane booster, dont drive it flat out in top, ie 130mph pluss for sustaind periods ,dont mod it with de-cats ect without a re-mapped ecu and itl be fine!
Having said all that theres people around who do/dont do the above and have no problems!

Its not a case of them all going bang, more that this site is full of alot of real enthusiasts so there isnt much crap chat around. the problems and the other opinions is what this site seems to be used for more...
I bet that there is just as many evos and cossies (definitly cossies) that are going bang, just that you dont here so much about them as they are a conventional engine and everyone knows about them to start with (the flat four raises many questions)

Good point with the cossie Jon My cousins on his 3rd or 4th engine in 80K (lost count ) on his saphire and thats running with about 300bhp!
Oddly UK Scoobs can go bang too.
The only real thing you need to make sure is that the previous owner has taken good care of it (serviced every 6months etc) and knows what fuel it should be run on. Better still, get one thats been re-mapped for UK fuel
