Just wondering about this one:-

Whenever I see a dick in a Nova (or similar) with a Big Bore exhaust and giving it some welly through town I think he is a complete and utter tosspot.

Whenever I hear some BoomBox coming down the street from 2 miles away I just want to rip it out and shove it right up the ******** 4rse.

Now, the Impreza DOES sound nicer than your average Nova and it LOOKS like it should sound good BUT - is there any need for it to rattle the windows out of the nearest office block??? WHY???

I am getting on in years, its true - BUT could someone PLEASE explain to me why they think its cool and clever to have LOUD music AND a LOUD exhaust????

In the opinion of 99% of the population these drivers are complete and utter planks with an IQ of around 10!!

I dont see the point in stereo systems in cars it really doesnt do it for me (im 22 btw)I also dont see the point in bb4`s on novas either as u say! Whereas jap cars with big exhausts is a totally differant matter. Well as long as it dont get too big!!!

My car is very loud, reason: because the flat 4 sound is so good. Plain and simple. I've had other cars and never changed the exhaust. I'm careful to drive gently around housing estates late at night.

I also have a loud stereo. I don't play it loud for everyone else to hear, and when i'm just pootling round town etc its on quite quiet. However it gets cranked up on the motorway because the exhaust note turns into a drone!!!

Im not into big sound systems but i do love the sound of an impreza. I think that impreza's can get away with having a loud exhaust system as they have the performance to back up the noise.
I have a TSL firestorm bb on mine so know the meaning of loud, however im not one to go revving through built up areas and when im out in the open it sounds ace, to me anyway.
Just my two pennies worth.

I have a MY00 with a full SS decat exhaust and I never realised just how loud it was until someone parked it for me the other day.
I have to be brutally honest and agree with you that it does give the car a boy racer image (which I like to think I'm not) when they see or hear my car.
On my next Impreza the exhaust will remain standard.....

Mine's a decat front pipe standard mid section cat and group 'n' TSL backbox and i think it's a nice mix of bass,discreetness and a bit throathy when prodded.I was bieng followed down the road yesterday by a punto with a couple in the front and a couple in the back, we pulled up at some lights and we all had windows down as it was as hot as hell and the guy driving the punto revs his engine gently a couple of times in fun ( meanwhile his girlfriend in the passenger seat is on her mobile) so i gun mine ever so slightly and glance accross smirking to which we all break out laughing (all 'getting the joke' ) then the gf in nsf seat says whilst grinning "could you rev your engine again please" and holds the mobile out the window for person on other end to listen so i oblige and we all crack up again.....i guess it does sound sweet then (music blasting with the windows down will always be seen as'showing off' but there's nothing quite like a good stereo system with quality bass playing a kicking tune )

Well I personally think you cant beat a scooby with a blitz zorst on they just sound awsome which is why i had to buy one. Every other car that i have had i have stuck with the original zorst cos they usually dont sound any better with an after market one on
Obviously your allowed your own oppinion but i bet at least 75% of the folk on here have an after market zorst on there scooby, so your probably moaning in the wrong forum.

Ok I am 21 and will probably get stick for being a young driver, who doesn't know any better. But in my opinion, on a beautifull summers day, there is nothing better then going for a drive down a motorway, my fav is the M23 to Brighton, with all the windows open, and still being able to hear the radio, its a great feeling. Although I still have the standard pipe on my STI8 I reckon next year I will invest in a proper exhaust, why, cause when you combine it with the dump valve I already have, its a great sound, and its the sound you associate with a rally car like the scoob. I think you can go to big and to loud, and people who have those sorts of exhausts usually want there car to be seen, and usually on a scoob, for a good reason. These items are not to everyones tastes, but at the end of the day people never complain about the noise a ferrari or like would make it is only ever the boy racer looking cars, which sadly the scoob is. Just my opinion.

Life is pretty short and as long as you/anyone doesn't blast it past my house at night i'm not really bothered how loud it is,life is too short to worry about what other people think ALL the time...so chill and live and let live is my motto (just don't wake me up with the ****** )

The Scoob has an individual exhaust note of course and I love to hear it. All the locals around here know when I am driving by and they all say how good it is to listen to. So why should I worry?

In some ways I'm with the old fárt on this one.

Some pre 97 Imports seem so loud with a decat system that they lose the burble and gain a real rasp.

Enhancing the burble on the other hand can't be bad and of course is essential if you are running big power.
