you can look at the orange/yellow tags on your seat belt, i think these have dates on them, dunno if that will be any good. Think the engine codes might be different year to year too

MY00 will have passenger and driver "map reading lights" above the rear-view mirror.

As mentioned, "GT AWD" is the European market designation for the Turbo 2000 AWD, so if your log book calls it a GT, it almost certainly did originate through a European dealer.

It's something you should clarify with the place you bought it from, especially if you're working on the assumption it's got some manufacturer's warranty left on it.

Question

Map reading lights!

I have late 99 on a V which I have down as a MY00 model. Right wheels and colour coding....are you sure they all had map reading lights? Not so bothered by the lights just concerned about the car being tarted up to a MY00.

Mind you it has four pots and crystal headlights...maybe some MY00's used up the last of the earlier years interior in late 99

The "code" for the car is GC8 in case of a sedan, if it's a wagon it's GF8.

The engine code reamins unchanged and is EJ20

MY00 also has a variable speed intermitant front wiper.

Ian - who must get around to changing one of the bulbs in the map reading light (has been blown for over a year!)

The map reading lights are right infront of the rear view mirror (ie just above the windscreen) and are 2 buttons with lights (map reading ones )

Ian, sometimes the bulbs work themselves loose, it might be worth prizing the cover off gently, taking the bulb out and putting it back in! Worth a try (15 secs max)

MY99 UK Turbo 2000 AWD

Assuming it is an MY99 and not an early MY00, yes they came out in late 1999 . Has it got the original alloys and if so are they the MY99 5 spoke or MY00 6 spoke ? The My00 has colour coded door mirror and handles, map readign lights, remote central locking among other things.

Where did you buy it from? The GT is the Euro market equivalent of the Turbo 2000, so by the sound of things you're driving an import.
