newbie - advice required please

Hi all!
Having had a drive in a mates 02 scooby, i now want to seriously look at getting one myself. I accept the insurance & fuel costs, but won't be spending 14k at a subaru dealer (this time!)
My spend bracket is 7 to 10k. What problems can i expect, and what advice would you give me looking for a private car? I understand that subaru's are generally very reliable & well put together - it can't be ALL good news, can it?
All advice appreciated - i've got a golf gt tdi to shift first, then it could well be game on :-)

Hi all, just jumping on the wagon. i am looking for a scoob in roughly the same price bracket after an unfortunate accident with my integra type R. Had it for a record of 10 days. Thats another story though, 9k - 11k. I would be interested in the same advice. cheers (y)
