The MOMO one has a bag of rubber grommets with it. You find the appropriate size of grommet and grub screw the grommets in place.

I treid giving the leather bit a 'good tug' but it didn't seem to want to budge and i didn't want to tear anything on my first day.

BTW, it's a 2003 car.

Hi All,

Ok, i've just got home with my new scoob and i have a couple of questions.

1. How do you get the gear **** off??
I bought a nice shiny MOMO one on the way home and can't work out how to get the old one off to put the new one on.

2. Fuel
Apparently the car i've bought (an ex demo car) has always been run on 95 RON Unleaded. I always ran my CTR on optimax and intend to do the same with this one. I seem to remember reading something that said that if a scoob has been run on one type of fuel then the ECU sets itself up for that fuel and wont reset when you put a higher grade in, hence the performance isn't optimal. Is this true?? I want to run the car on 98 RON optimax but i'd like to make sure that the car is set for it.

I'd be grateful for some quick replies, as i want to get the new gear **** fitted before work tomorrow, so's it looks the business when al my mates want a look in it. Call me shallow if you want

Cheers

Chris

I've just noticed your other thread.
I assume that the gaiter will just ease off with a little firm persuasion (a good tug)
Your ECU will adjust automatically to Optimax after a couple of tanks

Chris does the MOMO one screw on like the OE one or is it a grub screw fitment? Reason I ask is I was thinkin of a Prodrive one wich is basically a rebadged MOMO one I have been told

Hiya mate. The later '01 and onwards cars should adjust in 'real time' to the fuel that's being used. So, putting Optimax in, for exanple, should have an immediate effect after using NUL. It certainly seems to with mine (MY02).

Cheers, HB.

If in doubt, reset the ECU, disconnect the batery overnight. It will forget everything and sort itself out. This applies to older cars, see the SIDC faq for the real facts.

Yep, I agree with above, My UK MY02 is noticably better on Optimax.
Put a full tank of ESSO NUL in for a long steady motorway run and could tell at once power was down. This is the one and only time Iv ever run it on anything other than Optimax since new and will be the last. I let it run almost out, filled right to brim with Optimax and within 20 mile was back to her good old self.

Im not connected in any way to Shell, or any other oil co.

BTW, i managed to get the gear **** off this mornig, all it needed was a good tug!!

I've still got half a tank of normal unleaded in the ar at the mo'.

I'll run it down a bit and stick in some optimax and see how that goes.

Chris

Now that you've pulled your **** off () if you look underneath you'll see a little notch, if you'd have lined that notch up with the hole in the ring that has the leather on it would have been no effort
