Question

can n e 1 help ive just bought an 1997 2ltr sport, two weeks ago,i took it to my local specialist for a check over n the usual safety jobs done,ie cam belt ,fan belt, brakes ,oil,n radiator pressure tested, nice bill for 400 notes, then i bought a magnex cat back exhaust with a 6"4" oval rear box,,,sounds great but the wife n kids arnt to impressed, now the problem is that at low revs the car is fine but when i accelerate hard it missfires n does,nt want to pull, ive foned a few garages,n they seem to think that its the air flow mass meter,,so its in for a check at weekend,,the usual machanic says,he can unplug the ECU ,& the knock sensor ,& that will make the airflow mass meter reset its self,,,ive had new pluggs & ht leads,,,,can ne 1 help b4 the wife kills me n sells mi subaru, thanks chris.

I had a problem with my WRX it turned out to be a HT lead, but while trying to find the fault i was told MAF sensors die and then the car just wont run.

if you want to try doing anything to the maf, unplug the wire and take the whole box and spray the sensor part dangling into the airflow with elctrical cleaning spray, otherwise try a swap with a mate of freindly garage as they are not cheap!

Cheers
