Not too sure if this is a p**s take or not. Was reading the car classifieds in the local rag last week and noticed an Evo VI Tommi Mak up for sale at a nearby garage. Nice motor I thought. Was bored later on during the week so decided to drive out and have a look, pretty clean motor 25k on the clock Y Reg - £23,000 showcourt price give or take a few pennies. Asked for a trade in value on my '03 STI with 3000 on the clock - was quoted £19,000!!! FFS bought it for best part of £25k about 2 months ago, not sure if the salesguy was serious...now I'm a worried punter 6 grand depreciation in 2 months. Might aswell take a barrow load of cash out to the back garden and burn it... : (

Think how us bugeye owners felt when they brought the 03 out, and knocked 3 grand off the bugeye list price.

Don't 4get there using Glasses guide, trade in £19k sell it on their forecourt....£22k or what ever, traders will always give u btm price so they can make their slice of the cake on it, when they sell it on.

£19k really isnt a true trade in value. You will always get these scares though. I remember asking for a trade in price for my old P1 after six weeks of ownership. Bought for £33k, offer £26k.

Your STI will in all probability lose 23% of its value in the first year, and 15% in the second. So £19k will be its value at one year old.

If your serious about selling your STI now, its a good time for the trade in as long as you are happy to get on the phone. Most dealers are now out of STI's for the next few months. My guess is £21.5k.

Not too serious about trading it - prefer to PPP it to be honest and enjoy the car even more. Just goes to show though - it's a money pit, just glad that I get so much fun out of driving and owning it.
