Yep, been there, done that and got the certificate!
1.4 Astras with no PAS etc. Start off doing slides around tyres, handbrake turns, before off on to course. Mixture of gravel a bit of concrete and mud which is nice and slippy as they spray it from a water tanker. You do 4 or 5 timed runs of the course and are marked on your last one for time with penalty points added for stalling, spinning it etc. Car shared with 3 other people when I went. All in all a good day, the course is a good mile or so from the meeting point, make sure any spectactors if allowed have good footwear and clothing. Only shelter in a portacabin or loos and enjoy the trip to course in the minibuses bottoming out in the ruts!
Enjoy it, no way will you take your Scooby out on the course!
Andy.

Did one ages ago (in a mark 2 escort - no comments about how long ago that was then)....
Thoroughly enjoyed it, but not as much as the time I did the racing school at Donnington in the Superchipped Astra GTE 16V, which was also quite some time ago.
Must do it again sometime - circuit racing that is - hopefuly with my own scooby this time though

Man what a brilliant day, thanks to all the guys (expecially my instructor Steve) and galls at Vision they were extremely well organised and I had a really fun morning. Andy you described it exactly as it was, except I went round the course (Stage 1) first followed by the slalom (spelling?) and handbrake turn section (might have benefitted from doing that first), this was the most fun part because you could really give the car some welly without hitting anything hard! . Wow the chauffer drive was amazing! I was astonished by the way the driver (sorry can't remember his name, red hair and tall chap) set the car up for the corners 10 - 15 yards before them!!
I now have even more respect for the guys that do this professionally, they make it look soooooooooo easy. I found my single seater track day much easier than this!
Once again thanks to everyone organising a superb morning!
Cheers
Jim
PS Don't buy a day like this through Red Letter Days since it will cost you an extra £60 as my wife found out
PPS Hi Bob I live down in high class Didcot
