Did a fill-up this weekend after having covered 284 miles (about 230-240 ish of which was m-way) and only took 41.26 litres,

gives the the quite impressive m.p.g of 31.2 Not bad eh?

I regularily only get 200-220 miles between fill-ups, (52 litres approx) and this equates to around 19 mpg

All my driving is about town though, and my work is just 4 miles from home, about 2 of that on m/way.

When I think about it, by the time I arrive at work the automatic choke will probably still be on!!! (only kidding)

Still, we know these things when we buy a Scooby so can't realy complain!

Question

Don't mean to do any parade raining Twigster but isn't the Impreza's tank a 60 litre one? This is about 13.2 gallons so 360 miles is only about 27.3 mpg. I guess your tank wasn't completely empty though as they usually still have about 10 litres left when you think you're about to run out...

Done 130 miles in my first ever half a tank.
If the 2nd half goes as well thats about 20mpg - not bad as the honeymoon period is still in full effect

I have heard that the fuel gauge is a bit dodgy in the sense that the second half of a tank tends to go quicker than the first??

(No smart answers relating to how heavy my right foot is please )

Spooks,

You are wrong, I'm afraid. I've got a MY99 Turbo which has a 60 litre (13.2 imp galls) tank. The non-turbo models of the same age have 50 litre tanks.

Best I've got is 31.5, but I just can't bring myself to drive without using the turbo.

Question

I've never managed to get more than 45 litres into a tank and that had petrol spilling, and I have run it to empty so there is no way the tank in mine is a 60 litre!! unless there is 15 litres left when the light comes on?!

I believe the tank size changed from 50 litres to 60 litres in 1997.

I've just got 33 MPG out of a tank (280 off 38.7 litres).

All miles m/way, and most done at a constant speed, also quite a few miles in 50mph roadworks in Northamptonshire (speeding hell), then absolute caning in Milton Keynes to the centre...

my m-way miles were done mainly at 70 with some overtakes being done at slightly over if I just needed to nudge it past a truck or something.

The non-motorway was mainly done round fairly emoty town streets, with some vigor off the lights or onto roundabouts.

tch, don't know what you are complaining about, I got 39.9 (according to the trip computer) last week driving up from birmingham, and that was with the aircon giving me a nice 19 degrees when it was 27 outside.

(and yes, my car is 4wd, 4cyl, turbo, throws out 222bhp, but not a scoob )

(EDIT: and it's not diesel!)

MY 97 here. I definitely do not have a 60 ltr tank unless I have a major airlock in it

I get a regular 200 miles off a tank full. Mind you I do live on britains greatest race track . . . . . .
