I got a piccy from a russian website http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/Sub...rbo_98_tb.html. I'm still interested in others though.

I got some text from the Subaru STi website. So I'm ready to go now - just a bit busy at the mo (and I've got to learn how to post images as well)

Question

I seem to remember a while ago reading about the latest trendy t-shirts in a mag, included in which was one with an extract from a japanese workshop manual on the front of a t-shirt. I thought no more of it at the time, but now I quite fancy the idea now.

So, what I was thinking was, copying a page from my owners manual (or similar) with some Japanese text on and a scoob picture onto the front of a decent quality t-shirt.

Before going too far I need to make sure I'm not infringing copyright, and that I can find somebody to do this (can't be too difficult surely).

So I thought I'd see if there was anybody else who wanted to join in, if I got a group buy thingy going. Or if you can already buy them from somewhere - it needs to be a scoob of course

Anybody up for it? Anybody got any good suggestions of things to put on the front

How about the jap writing you get near the fuel filler with the RON rating on - 100+ or whatever it says?

DW - Like the idea, now I need to try and mock it up to see what it would look like.

I didn't get much support, so I'm not sure this can fly, but a BTTT to see if anybody else bites

DABS pixology, I think that's the name try www.dabs.com to start with, specialise in printing digital photos. However, they will also print any reasonable resolution digital photo on to mugs and T-shirts. So, if you have a suitable photo or scan then you can get a one off done. I am sure other companies offer similar services.

Cheers

I've just been and googled, found the following site

http://www.tshirtstudio.com

that looks ok - 15 quid a go, and you can send your own logo in.

There seem to be enough places that will just do the one, so there doesn't seem to be a need to do a group buy. I'm going to have a browse of the images I've got and see if I can get something done. I'll post up my idea when I've got it.

I'm just a bit worried about the quality of the t-shirt - anybody got any recommendations of places to go?

Hi.

I do this for a living.

The method of printing is dye subbing and it looks poor. It is very similar to the stuff you can do at home with an ink jet printer. The "tour" type shirts that you see at concerts are screen printed and that is the way to go, the problem is that it has to be done in large quantities to justify the set up cost. Not all sreenprinting is good though because the end result is down to the skill of the art dept and the correct choice of inks.

Oh BTW, most Hanes and FOTL shirts are cr@p. Gildan Ultra and Jerzees ZT220 are the ones to go for.

Just telling you how it is.
Regards
roscoe

Hi JB.

I have an embroidery business, when I take on screen printing I sub contract it out.

To be honest, I would not get involved with this project because the only company that I trust my work with has a minimum order of 200 pieces.

Sorry.

I made a few T shirts up for myself bearing the official Subaru yellow image on blue polo shirt. Top quality shirts. Low order (ie. 2) expect £17 per shirt and high order expect discount.

Bear in mind that this is the price (for a pick up) of the highest quality printing and material for the price

Edit to say I didnt actually make them myself but ordered them up from a printers in Luton and Im not making a sales pitch

Thanks for the advise folks, I'll go and do a bit more research. I guess it's not going to be screen printing, since the order size is so small.

I like the engine pic BTW

Nigel, try some local print shops to you as well.

The place where I have had some printing done, will charge me a setup of £35 for an embroidered logo, then about £10 per t-shirt for it to be done.

May be worth visiting a few.

DW - Good idea, one of the things I'm most nervous about is the quality of the product. Being able to see and touch it would be a big help.

I'll have a bit of a look tonight when I get home

The Subaru polo shirts I had made up are of very high quality. The trouble with making shirts up in any numbers I suppose is that legally I assume your are not allowed to do it, ie trademarks etc.

I suppose if you wanted to make some shirts up with scoobynet logos it would be best to drop webmaster a line and ask his opinion. It might be a point worth mentioning to webmaster anyway if theres enough interest they might want to make a load up and flog them off officially.

Its easily done, just make sure you choose the right printing/embroidery outlet.
