I might try it on PipeCalc tomorrow

I'm sure someone will claim that an open neck allows maximum flow of exhaust gas, but the backpressure is slightly better on a TD, thus reducing turbo wheel overspeed / running off its curve

open-neck, haven't some of the twin-dump guys suffered with boost creep? Or was that just open-neck with splitter guys?

Open neck.(and of these I have found from practical experience that Hayward & Scott is as good or better than anything else I have tried)

Open neck with splitter.

Like most people here, I've never compared two on the same car, so my opinion ain't worth much

I've got the PE twin dump and am very pleased with the extra boost I get. But never tried an open neck so not fully qualified to comment.

Just noticed - a fellow Mechanical Engineer!
Does a final year student count?

Open neck.

edit: speaking of CFD, got any Pro-Engineer blueprint that might help a poor student finish his coursework which he forgot to do?

I think the open neck might be easier to fit as the TD gets in the way a bit.

As for performance, mixing wastegate gas or splitting it must be absolutely negligible in my opinion. Open next reduces the risk of the actuator catching around the bore of the pipe, as can happen on some TD pipes. Im sure someone on here had a problem (John Banks?)
