Where can I take my rally car?
#1
Hi All
Was due to be going to Manby this weekend for some testing. Unfortunately they can't do it now.
Does anybody know of anywhere else (preferably in the midlands / east anglia, but not necessarily) where we could go?
Either airfield type surfaces or if possible mud / gravel tracks?
Maybe there is a helpful farmer out there with lots of dirt tracks doing not much ??
Any info / suggestions gratefully received.
Regards
Simon

I know it's a bit of a long haul, but you could try Crail airfield near St Andrews in Scotland. The owner has several miles of runway area, with lots of grassy run-off areas and virtually nothing to hit. He has also recently constructed a circuit out of various runways, bales of hay etc for track day type use.
I'm sure with a bit of persuasion, you could get exclusive use of the whole facility (there isn't much apart from many acres of runway and grass!) for very little cost, or nothing if you carry some sponsorship for his facility

I have also hired Drive It All at Enstone for testing. Superb facilities and very safe for exploring the absolute limits.
They charge by the hour and 3-4 hours will be more than enough.
I'll be going back towards the end of May, call me if you want to share a day.

Cheers guys.
Enstone have been charging me £30!!!
I do like it there, but the surface is only really good for testing overall balance, and obviously it is ideal for getting used to the car.
I really need to get somewhere with a pseudo forest track surface. Mud / gravel tracks on a farm would be ideal I reckon. I might start calling round all the local farm
Thanks again
