lorry on A38
#1
i nearly crapped myself this am. driving along a38 near derby and i see a flat bed lorry with a small jcb on the back.Do i speed up or let him out? Its a nice day i'll let him out.
Now i am about 30yds behind him doing 50mph as he pulls out ...no problem then suddenly "CRACK". bloody hell i nearly had a heart attack he had thrown up a stone which has made a bullet like impact on the windscreen followed by a 12 " crack.
Now insrance will take of the damage (-£40 excess!!!!) but it just shows how dangerous some of these flat bed lorries are. I am certain the stone came off his trailer and just to confirm i have had a close look at quite a few...and some are like a buliders yard : gravel and stones all over the trailer. So what happens as they go over a bump...thats right the stones fly off.Very dangerous they should be fined for it!
Be careful out there.

silly boy. never let anything like that out infront of your beloved! i'm usually polite in letting people in/out but no way something like that because:
1) something like what happened to you will happen
2) you have to hang a mile back and drive like my granny in order not to get the chips flying into your car
nevermind i do know how it feels as something similar happened to my new STi on my second day of ownership but luckily it only chipped the screen. it's nothing a little money won't fix just be thankful you're not injured.
take it easy bud!

At least it was a stone and not the bloody jcb!!!
I've had all-sorts fly at me that have fallen from trucks... A plastic lunchbox and flask, a tarpaulin, a broom, one of those plastic bread pallets, and worst of all a steel oil drum!!!!!
All on seperate occasions and all thankfully avoided.
The last one made me think I'd become PLAYER 1 in a game of "Spy Hunter"
