WOW !!

Got my MY01 Impreza WRX ! More than enough power for me. I used to have a Sport MY98 a year previous and I don't know if it's me but the Sport seemed to handle better. The new Scoob has Avon tyres on and I could feel it being difficult in the rain on the way to work !

Any ideas ?

Also -

any cheap mods ?
how much is a decat ?

He may want handling, styling or braking mods?

Well probably not,my WRX01 has done 16000mls on the same brake pads,I just dont seem to be able to go fast enough to wear them out!

decat will be about £300 for the centre and downpipe, back box is gonna depend on taste ect.

Cheap mod would be to spary your rear light clusters with a red tint to get rid of the tango, click me for lights thread and for another £20 you can get the brake caliper painting kit from halfords aswell. click me for calipers threadsthats two geat mods for less than £50

If you want a performance mod then a panel filter or evebn better would be an indution kit. thiese go for about £150 I belive

Hi !

I know I said I've more than enough power but it doesn't seem very progressive - any fixes ? remap etc. ? Not to fussed about warranty as I got it 2nd hand so can't see there being one altho I will check.

Wat worries me most is the handling - maybe its me not driving properly as I've not had a turbo before altho I had a Scooby Sports which has AWD too. Any cheap checks or is it supposed to be like this ?!

Help !! I'm a bit scared of planting my foot if the handling is suspect !

Plus - the brakes are a bit on the crap side - known issue ? Upgrades ?

Crap tyres and lousy factory setting for geometry are probably the source of your handling problems.
Loads of threads on best tyres on Search or looking in the correct forum.
Loads of threads about geometry set-up (e.g. TSL or Powerstation) on Search or by looking in the correct forum.

Best mod is a driving course, before you do anything else.

Unhappy

You bought an 01 car without a warranty ?
I'd spend some money on a warranty first.

change those Avons double quick i had the same feeling about my 99 MY turbo.
The back end would break away for no good reason so i changed to TOYO's and the difference was amazing in all conditions.

Decat will be more than £300. It depends what you get. A decat downpipe could cost £300 on its own!

All depends how much you want to spend

Edited to say like said above, have a general search. You will find out loads of info
