Hi Folks,
I'm considering a WRX 03 model with the PPP option to 261bhp, prodrive quote 0-60 in 4.8, does anyone have any magazine road tests? (just want to make sure the is as quick as they make out). I have no trouble staying with a standard MY01 WRX in my Accord type-r, even on long straights, so I want something with more go!
I contacted a number of Subaru dealers who offered by an offensive trade-in value of my present car, it was well below even trade value and offered no discount on the WRX @ £20k, maybe they don't want to actually sell WRXs !
Present car is a 2001 Honda Accord Type-R (14k miles, Acon, cat1 alrrm, mint), was offered only £13k, six months ago was offered an £18k trade-in on a S2000 which I declined.
I notice Slough Trade Sales sell the WRX 03 model for 16k, will a Subaru dealer fit the PPP if I buy the car from STS, I think slough-trade-sales sell euro-imports. If a scobby dealer will not touch the car, can anyone recommend a dealer that sells the WRX at a reasonable price or recommend a scobby dealer.
My one final question concerns fuel consumption, I know MPG can drop to the low 20,s but if I drive like a saint (some days I drive fast, some days I like to admire the scenery).
Cheers All,
Big Woosie.

If going the import route be careful that the car is an actual EU import (ECC or EEC can't remember), a lot of these trade sales places get there cars from Cyprus and they are not a true parallel import AFAIK.
UK dealers will service parallel imports but you must have PPP fitted by the country it came from, i.e. Holland.

As above, but for the PPP to still retain the warranty it needs to be fitted in the country of origin. So if it comes from Belgium then it needs to be fitted at a Belgian dealer.
As for the performance, go to your local dealer and try one. The Accord type R is a very differemt car to the Scoob, and if the impreza was in PPP form a lot slower. Until the focus RS the Type R was still regarded as the best handling FWD car.

Sorry but 13k seems about right to me for an Accord type R.
Can get that age type-R from a dealer for that, let alone a private sale! And as for what dealers will offer, well what do you expect.
On autotrader there's a 2001 car for £11699 and a 15k miles one for £13999, from dealers.
I wouldn't hold my breath for more if I were you.

Got a PPP'd 03 U.K. car. Marvellous. Had a 00 Standard UK prior and this is far better. Torque good, although 3rd gear a little dissapointing(sometimes). Seems that the warm weather dents performance noticeably... MPG link posted last night, Av. 24 ish for me with high/low of this 4mpg each side.

someone's bound to make it clicky for me:
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/driven/driven_story.php?id=35643
got very little discount on my 03 wrx, but they threw in a lot of little options for nothing when i went to walk out the showroom - but i just had to have one.

"six months ago was offered an £18k"
I'd have snapped their hands off, as you're not going to get anywhere near it now. There are 99/00s out there (and loads of them!) for around £10K, and 01s with 12K miles for £13/13.5.
Good luck!

Cheers SteveO.
I thought I would tackfully mention that a number of
discount dealers are selling MY03 WRX's for around £16.5k and state I wanted to buy from a scooby dealer to get the PPP fitted, but not at list price. What Car target price is £19k - so I'l go armed with this info.
One mate has recommended trying a scobby dealer further North, Deerhunt in Milton Keynes was recommended. Dealers in the London area I guess have no trouble making sales targets, so offer no discount.
Cheers.

Just phoned Slough Trade Sales: New WRX 03 is UK sourced!!!! £16,999 - were happy for provide VIN for me to check at Subaru dealer that it's a Uk sourced car ( They are pre registered with delivery mileage). Only offered me £10,500 for my car over the phone, but it's what it cost to change that counts.
There you go, will use this when I negociate with a Subaru dealer.
It seems a few of the other trade-sales like Car-marts are selling pre-registered MY03 WRX for around the £17k figure.
BTW - what's insurance like with the PPP option?, my insurance company direct line stated the insurance was the same for the WRX (with a tracker) as the Honda Accord Type-R, wonder what they'll ask for with the PPP option, eek !

If the trade sales cars are really UK sourced would there still be a problem in getting the prodrive pack fitted at a UK dealer? Surely not if they are UK cars. Looks like a visit to trade sales could be in order.

Surely Trade Sales sre bulls**ting you.... The dealers can't even buy MY03s at that price, never mind sell 'em on.
Bet you they are all Cyprus sourced!

Just brought 03 for £19,245 from wilsons in Chadwell heath plus ppp at £1600 no discount on that, this was just by asking for a discount and telling them another dealer was offering that price, and have them in stock now ask for simon. subaru are also offering a very good intrest rate at the moment as i was reliably informed, about 4.5% APR and they need to write sales at the moment so not hard to qualify !!
