just been checking the vin plate on my STi V as you do the model code lists it as a GC8F4ED which according to SIDC faq its an WRX STi4 4 door, the car is on a V plate, regd Dec99 & i thought it was deffo an STi 5 (genuine wing etc) look here is this unusual or a normal prod line issue with overuns etc??

Perhaps a misprint in band 'F'? There is also one in band 'G' !

Question

Looking at the pictures, It be an STi 4 with a face lift front and and STi V rear wing.

The reason that I think that is because of the colour, IIRC the STi V was 'Royal Silver' (792) as opposed to 'Light Silver' (406).

I have a mate with an STi4 type R, some off his engine plumbing layout is different to mine, the car was imported in about june 99. I got a receipt with the car for the alarm that was fitted, but the car was actually only registered in december 99, it does have the variable speed wipers if that helps, no pics off the engine bay though. im confused....

If you look at the engine is the coil pack in the center or slightly to the right of the manafold ?
I think im right in saying that the STi4 will have the coil pack in the center and the STi5 will have it slightly to the right....I think
