MAF sensors

Thought there was a shortage of these things! Dealer had one in stock, asked why I was surprised that he had one in stock, and claims to not sell that many...
Should I be suspicious about the fact that it has just one green dot? Have I been fobbed off with the older (less reliable) type?

Dont know about the green dot thing but i know that they normally just dont replace the so called sensor which you bought. I think by quoting that number if you have bought just the replace sensor where as when a dealer changes the MAF sensor, they change the whole box and thats why its something like £240.
THats just a guess though

Matt P,
right part number, right maf mate.
I keep a spare in the glovebox along with a key to fit it, just in case.
Having said that, I've never had one fail, despite abuse, I tend to think they get the blame for anything!

Just had to order one from Wilsons in Chadwell Heath , they reckon the've got a back order of five including mine! Cost about £70 for a MY99 as it is just the sensor & not the whole unit that needs replacing.
P.S is it simply a matter of unplugging the old & plugging in the new?

Hence my surprise when Sparshatt's said they had one on the shelf! Dead easy to fit if you have the correct torx bit. Took the intake pipe off on mine to do it, makes it a bit easier to get at everything. 10 mins to change in my lunchbreak, 20 min test drive after the ECU reset ;-)
