Question

Can you please help with the following question....

A my98 with 199015 km (124384 miles) with the same turbo a risk to buy? Or should I expect the car to be as (get ready for it) as the dealer says a top car, full dealer history etc etc..

To any one in holland:
What sort of price should I expect to pay? Dark Blue, Gold wheels, Alarm class 2 & Airco.

Only buy it if the price reflects the very high miles....

Blue Step ,

Kms are very high. I would tend to avoid it, especially as you do not know what sort of major bits (turbo / engine / gearbox) will need replacing in the near-term. Is there a Bovag guarantee with it? A one year guarantee on major parts might change my purchasing decision if I were looking at this car.

I would expect this to be priced at around the €10k level.
You might want to ask at extreme machines for more local knowledge of current prices. (www.extreme-machines.nl).

Good luck!

this sub is currently available by the dealer in alphen-ad-rijn..... www.vdboon.nl I get the feeling that a lot of dealers are trying their best to rip us off... ok I know that all dealers will try this to some extent but this is a joke....

btw the car is priced around the €16K mark....

In my opinion the price is way too high.

I paid around €22k 18 months ago for an MY99 with airco, abs, airbags and decent ICE and it only had 25k km on the clock at the time. Bought it from Subaru Velserbroek.

Good grief if hollanders r willing to pay that sort of money i'm guna export my car when i sell it at the end of the year. Normally i'd say high milers aint a problem if they have been serviced & luved as they shud b but that is a tad extreme & with the price that wood b a **** take even for a UK dealer!
Si (in UK car export shocker lol)

Average mileage for that car would be between 45,000 and 50,000. It's so far over that it would not represent a reasonable risk if it were me.

Si,

Wouldn't work mate. Problem is local taxes here. Base price is low (as all you importers already know) but then the Cloggy Govt bung on an extra 30% "BPM" tax for locals. This is why the pre-tax car price in NL is so low. I don't think any manufacturers actually make any money selling here!

dont forgot about the piston slap that affects my98 cars it would be worth checking if any work has been done in this area and on what pistons, as there have been reports on reoccuring problems.

Wow! dont do it m8 it'll end in tears, tears of joy from the dealer selling it and urs when ur replacing the turbo or getting a new lump put in, if that cars had 100 odd thousand miles of hard use which its bound to have had its gonna be a gamble, i mean who buys a scooby to potter along in!

I would give that one a miss, service history or not,it may still have been hammered for all you know. Something at less then half that mileage is a lot safer.
