Probably a daft question, but im new to the Scooby scene.
Boost controls. Im getting an imported MY96 WRX STI.
Do these have boost controls on them and how do you use them?

Nope if it standard the ECU take care of the boost. Are you thinking about the diff controller ?. On some of the STIs they have a dash board diff controller slider which allows you to changes the power distribution so you can make the car more like a RWD car or push more power through the fronts. Its worth doing a search for DCCD. JohnF did a really good peice about how and when to adjust the diff controller I am sure someone will post the link.

Its defo not the diff control.
Its the boost control im interested in!!!

The only way you could adjust the boost would have a boost controller had been fitted in line something like a dawes device or an aftermarket programmable ECU. Then it depends on which one and hows it been fitted, by whom and why. Becareful adjust boosting otherwise it will adjust your bank balance .

You can buy electronic boost controllers (apexi AVC-R, and the HKS EVC). They are obviously electronic, and can be altered in the comfort of the cockpit... I have a HKS EVC III, and when it is switched on, it runs 18 psi, when switched off, it runs the stock 13/14 psi... The Apexi AVC-R is pretty cool,m and you've probably seen them on other cars if you've been to shows... They show a different array of displays, (digital/analogue, etc, and allow more control than earlier ones...)
