Bonnet = £150- (400)<---- alloy + painting
1 front wing = £100 genuine subaru + painting
Bumper £150+ genuine bumper skin + painting
Lights £?
Radiator £200+ new..
Seems a bit harsh to call it a write off.... plus labour though.

It could be written off quite easily even if there isn't major structural damage and its all down to the ridiculous labour rates garages charge.They could class the car as a category c or d uneconomical repair and it would end up at a salvage auction as an accident damaged repairable
I bought my girlfriend an accident damaged corsa for buttons and repaired it myself and then sent it for painting.(saved a fortune)

Personaly I would buy the parts and repair the car myself, or put it into a local bodyshop to get it sorted without going through the insurance company..... as soon as an 'insurance approved' bodyshop know its a insurance job, they will tripple/quadruple the labour costs, easy money for them.
I once heard of bloke that smacked his corsa into a post, nothing major, just bent the bonnet.... sodding bodyshop wanted £2000 from the ins company to replace and spray the bonnet, then apparently they went to the scrappers and got a 2nd hand one for £30 and sprayed it. Fooking jokers.
It wouldnt take long for you to source the parts, remove the old stuff and bolt on the new bits, all the parts listed there are bolt on. Then ask a freiendly local sprayers to spray it for cash, prob about £3-400 for a good job.
If it goes through the ins, they may write it off purley cos of the w4nker bodyshops.... then you will have no scooby, that is sad

I heard if it's more than 60% of the value of the car to fix it it'll be a write off.

You should try though to make a claim off your Insurance co and try not to pay for it yourself. If there was damage to the vehicle you hit, he will be making a claim off you anyway which will effect your no claims discount, so you should try and get some compensation as it can't get any worse.
Unless you can fix it for less than your excess.

its alot higher than 60% now a days more like 90% if he insurance can save 100 pounds they will believe me,dont think they will right it off the car worth what 8-10k repairs sound around 3000-5000 they will still be saving money.
has the car got any front panel/a/c condensor damage etc this wopps it up alot.

I did something similair last year in my WRX. I think the total bill from the body shop was about £3K
No wonder premiums are so high. I worked out I could have fixed it for half that if I had to.

My impreza was sideswiped by a car coming out of a junction a few years back, it was only 2 months old, cost of repair 15k and it was not written off, I was peeved at the time when you see other cars written off just because theres a dent in the bumper or something, at the time I think it had to be over 60% to write it off and mine was a borderline case.

Insurers also write off cars like scoobys quite regularly is theres any structural damage i.e twisted chassis legs etc. Its due to all major panels comming from outside the EU.
With cars like F*rds etc its not unhead off to get a re-shell on insurance rather than it being writen off!!!!!

Im starting to get a bit worried reading this thread.
I also smashed my Scoob on Friday. It is an MY97, so can only be worth 7-8k now. It has rear spoiler, boot, bumper, drivers door, wing mirror, scratched front bumper, driving light damage. Plus whatever damage it did underneath when it grounded on the ditch!
I want it back!

I had an astra written off after someone bent the door open and damaged the dash trying to nick it. Ok it was a nacker, but all i did was say to the insurance company, write my car off give me the money minus the value of the car as it is. Basically i got £700 (car was worth £1000 undamaged, and they valued it at £300 as it was) and repaired it myself for £25. Everyones a winner!

When I did mine in, collision at about 20 mph, needed two new front wings, headlights, bonnet, radiator, bumper (driving lights were OK), new rear bumper and one rear light (after it had spun and nestled backwards in the barrier).
Repair cost at approved place came to ~4K
All parts were sourced from a local dealer.

Did mine at 4pm on Friday, they had it picked up at 10am Saturday, and they started looking at it at the repair center yesterday. So far so good. I have spoken to the repair centre and they tell me it wont be written off, but he has not had it on the ramp to see what it has done underneath yet.

doobiedooo - Was yours the silver 4 door on the back of a tow truck on the side of the A329M, must have been some evening last week? That had had what looked like a heavy front end inpact. I am no expert, but that one did look close to a write off, bonnet, wings, front bumper, lights and probably some internal damage.
