I think I may have found the right scooby for me, as in its absolutely mint with low miles and is a relatively local car. However, I have a query about fuel consumption. Now I dont really give a monkeys about the cost of running a scoob cos its going to be a tenfold better car then what I've got at the moment, but I'm just interested to find out. I currently run a '95 Clio 1.8 16V (ie Williams but without the goodies) and run it on Optimax. To fill up costs about £35.00 and I get approximately 240-260 miles out of it. What would I expect to get out of a scoob and bearing in mind that I will be driving it mostly in traffic to work during the week with the odd blat, but come the weekend woohoo. How much to fill up? and how many miles out of it? Just want some approximates to get an average. Now before you all start I'm 29 and the Clio is completly standard so no ripping the ****

That's pretty poor mileage for a 16v! I've had a 16v and a Williams2 and both returned better milegae than that (about 320+ in the 16v and not a lot less in the Williams). Anyway to answer your question, expect to get about 230 average with a £45 fill up. You can lower the mileage to 160ish if you drive it like you're wearing lead boots or if you do a long motorway journey you may even see 300 come up. Enjoy and just get friendly with the chick at your local filling station!

Taking into consideration that this is based on a uk turbo model car.... average is 18mpg in town, x 13 = 234 miles on optimax based on 80ppl (60 ltr tank) would cost you 48 quid to fill up.

Cheers dan4, my current fuel consumption is pretty poor but that does include a lot of sitting in traffic on the daily commute to work. I have had between 300/315 miles from a tank before but thats lots of motorway driving and not much sitting in traffic. Anyone else with any info would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, my question is based on a potential MY99 UK Turbo (standard spec).

I have a MY00 Uk turbo.
Do a lot of miles sitting in M25 traffic.
on a tank of Optimax (about 40 - 45 quid) i've been getting about 230 - 260.
When not stuck in M25 traffic and cruising nicely i get about 300.
HTH.

MY97 UK Turbo get about 300 miles to the tank @85mph on a 2000 mile round trip this was fairly consistent. I found that by sitting off boost at 2.8K revs I upped this to 320 ish per tank but what's the point?

my99 uk had it about a month started off at about 25mpg
now down to 20mpg on average.
started driving economically this morning.
stopped diriving economically once i'd finished backing it off the driveway.
I did try honest, it's just soooo harrrd.

Thanks for all the replies guys. From some of the threads I have read on here in the past I thought my fuel bills where going to go through the roof when I finally joined the fold of scooby owners but it would appear not. In the grand scheme of things the huge improvement in performance and practicality are going to vastly outway the small increase in my fuel bills. Thanks again guys and hopefully my next post on here will be in the members gallery with a pic of my new mota!!!

that was on a mix of SUL petrol, various brands including supermarket stuff as I was driving about 3000 miles round trip to Portugal and back. In Europe all the super unleaded is 98 RON and Optimax isn't available. Back in the UK I noticed a slight increase in throttle response from using Optimax but no fuel consumption benefit in the Impreza. Driving a Turbo'd Passat in the UK the trip computer reported a 2-4 mpg increase using Optimax.
As for normal unleaded never use 95 RON fuel it can be dangerous for classic Impreza's particularly imports.
