Parts aren't a problem generally, the main bugbear is extra insurance, but thats balanced against more power and AC as standard.
Having said that, the only place I could get a bloody alternator belt was from Graham Goode racing and they wanted £25 as opposed to £3.98 from Halfords for the UK belt
There's loads of independant specialists and a fair few breakers so you honestly won't have a problem.
Plus, there's always Scoobynet if you're stuck (it's like having a huge dysfunctional family in your living room).

Pete, I own a MY93 WRX. Most parts are the same as UK cars. The only problem I found was changing a widow as the UK tints are a different colour. Other than that there are loads of breakers now and people who specialise in import parts.
When you are looking, just look for all the usual things, as with any car. Bodywork is usually pretty resilient but be aware of any damage that may have been repaired.
Depending on age, you may have problems with insurance. These cars are classed as Group 20, whereas the UK cars are Group 17.
Hope you get sorted. Enjoy...

not all wrx's have abs
my 93 does, got my insurance down to under £700 this year, ring a lot of companies for insurance before you purchase so you donw get a shock.
check the normal car buying things, I love mine, had it 4 years now

I have owned a my 96 UK turbo, which I wrote off a couple of years ago, but now have a 93 wrx. The differences are not really as much as you would think, the wrx is quicker off the mark but not a great deal. Though the seats in my wrx are great, lets just say that the farmer spec (lol) ones in the UK car werent. Personally if as said earlier insurance is not much of a bother, then I would have the import every time. All imho of course.

Pete, i've had a 93 wrx import for best part of 2 years, and not a bad word to say about it, parts are never a problem and loads of people tune them who know what they are doing so go for it.
PS thats a good insurance quote, where was that from ??
