hi all this is my first post, and currently own a ellse which i have had for 2 years but now want something different, was going to go for a tuscan but just seems to unreliable, so now i am going to go for a wrx sti 8 with the ppp and upgraded 18" alloys, dont really know why they are still running 17" as standard even the audi tt is on 18" now. anyway im now confused which olour to go for, blue or the black, i know most are in blue and all my mates keep saying get the black as there are not so many around, but as i have never had a scooby before i thought it should be the rally blue with the gd aloys, but now half my mates are saying that gold wheels look stupid and i should get a different colour. so please help, whick colour car and what colour wheels.
on a different matter, alot of you are saying that residuals are not good, so can anyone roughy tell me what i would expect to lose after 2 years with the sti?
many thanks

Personally I prefer the Blue, and although Gold wheels may look pants on most cars they suit the Impreza and especially with the Blue. If you wanted to be less obvious and got the Black, Gold still works well, but I think black STi8's with Bright Flitter couloured Prodrive FF7's look awesome.
As with all showroom bought cars the depreciation isn't great, but the STi8 hopefully wont be as bad as the 7, which was hampered by indifferent opinion on its looks.

Think this has been done before ..try a search .I guess it comes down to personal opinion .IMHO I would go for the blue , I know there's loots more blue Scoobys around , but black is hard work to keep looking good (but looks the dogs when it polished up ).
Just get one and you wont look back I'm sure .

Half of this board, also, will say that gold wheels look stupid.
The other half will say that they are fantastic.
A fight will then break out, destroying friendships, families, this BBS, and eventually world peace as we know it.
Thanks mate

i ahve seen the blue with the gold wheels, it does look great but i also saw the pics of the black one with the gold wheels and that to looks great, maybe cos im coloured blind i find it difficult to decide what looks the best as i am proberly seeing the colour different from everyone else.
oh what shall i do? any other suggestions as for the wheels? or is gold still king?
Anyone upgraded to 18" when they orderd the car? what extra did you have to pay for them, im hoping to get all the mods done from new like the ppp and 18" wheels and hopefully get a good price for the complete package.

I bought one in Blue with gold wheels. I had a problem with the gold wheels and so did everyone I spoke to outside of here. However, they have grown on me and the other people are starting to say the same thing as well. They have to be gold really, lets be honest about it. Oh and have your windows tinted as well. £200 and they look the business

you could be really different and go for Silver looks pants with the supplied gold wheels, but as you are upgrading to 18" you could go for the dark silver coloured FF7's. There will not be to many around as Silver is special order and most people are put off the silver and gold wheel combo.

This is mine. I am considering channging cars and am considering selling this now. I'd expect dealer bids of around £21/22k with standard wheels.
The PFF7's really suit the car in shape I think and a couple guys I've spoken to would knock £300/£400 off list if bought with the car new.

Black looks fantastic in the flesh (in the showroom) but a f'ing nightmare to keep that way. I'd like a black one but i know myself well enough to know that i wouldn't put the effort in it needs to look good. so blue then, looks mean and it's got the heritage. no offence but silver looks a bit boring to me - but post a pic and prove me wrong Silv. yep, own a black car and have blue STi8. the black one is a nightmare to keep clean and requires twice as much attention. my blue baby with gold wheels is slammin' and still looks the biz with a load of mud over it but can't say same about the other...

Look at that!!!...silver on silver is a BIG NO NO. i'd rather have black (even though it means spending more time on keeping it clean). but at the end of the day i'm glad do have chosen blue with gold rims

if you join the sidc at www.sidc.co.uk most dealer offer 10% off parts and servicing then you need to be a bit cheeky insisting on the 10% off your 18"alloys (blue or black they must be gold subaru have gold on the rally car)and ppp had to phone a few dealers but got the discount in the end on my bits . i would have a wr mica blue black is a bugger to keep clean .

the wheels on the silver sti dont look right they are really dark sort of gun metal grey, the ones i saw at a dealer (ff7) looked sweet, maybe it is the light or camera. or are these wheels the original gold ones that have been sprayed.
