ive spoke to a few other scooby owners/ex owners

who say they think the scoob is the best car they have had but it was spoilt by the stress of trying to keep one.
for example..
1, at night not being able to relax when watching TV, and even keeping shoes on just in case they needed to chase some bugger off the drive!
2, Sleeping with one eye open, and jumping up to the window at the slightest noise outside...
3, When driving round keeping doors locked incase some nutter tries to get in uninvited.
4, not staying in some places because your not happy where the cars parked..
5, always leaving space between you and the car infront in stationary traffic, in case you need to escape!

some of the lads who i spoke to told me some scary tales too.
having house broken in for the keys
having to run red lights because some nutter tried to smash the window to get in his car, while waiting at the lights

a couple of them said, although they agree how good the cars are he wouldnt have another... too much stress!!

not being funny, but what kind of country are we living in for gods sake?

Go on any other half decent type of car board and I'll bet you'll hear similar stories!
Had my head battered in for my last scoob but still enjoying it!

Used to do that when I had the only example (out of 205) of a limited edition (non-Scoob) in Tenerife. Moved house in the end so I had a garage to keep it in.

Sleep, what's that. 2 months and counting. Black eyes. Everything seems to be bluring into one. Must watch car, help a leaf has landed on the roof. aaaaaaaaaaaargh. no more, no more. Must get Lada.

It is always the same when you get a new car, after a while you start to chill.

I am hoping anyway as i have only had my STi8 2 months.

thats the point really...

one lad parked his up, and some tosser smashed the drivers window and threw in a firework (a bloody big un) it blew up and wrote the car off!!! twisted the chassis as well as blowing all the insides to pieces and blowing the doors of the catches :O

he now drives a new astra, and says hes happy now. He goes to bed and sleeps, and parks it in car parks without worrying...
i think its sad that people cant admire something without wanting to wreck it

insure it, get a steering lock and cat 1 alarm (tracker if ness), put it in a garage when possible, lock your doors at night when driving and keep an eye out for potential hi-jackers, get an alarm that prevents 'jackers but invalidates your cat 1 (I don't quite get this) if you must, my personal opinion after a while of of scoob ownership is that there will be many who want to take your car regardless of its badge but I have only had one and this was when I dropped my keys at IKEA. It is a car to nick but most bystanders are just admiring in my experience, you can worry forever or have good insurance, a car is replaceable, a scoob is a great car, there are others that are worth more on the black market, ******* joyriders are always a problem though.

thank god I'm not the only one.

First night of owning one jumped up at every noise.

Second night...put it in the garage.

third night...back on driveway with new steering lock...couldn't spend another night with a lawnmower, 2 mountain bikes, a b-b-q and all the other junk in the kitchen.

Eight nights on...jump up at every noise. planning a garage sale.

Mind you if you want extreme protection - anyone remember the South African anti-jacking device??

It was a flamethrower that exited underneath the drivers & passengers door to stop car jackers at traffic lights. Scary stuff when you have to resort to something like that! Brrrrr

Mind you I could see the advantage when people try and cut you up :0

The whole point is, this is supposed to be a safe, law abiding country. We should not have to worry about having our possessions stolen or vandalised. Why is it that we do have to be so fearful that someone may be trying to steal our things, or to ruin them from sheer jealousy?

It is about time that the authorities started to take a real interest in the welfare of the people who live in this country instead of worrying about their own careers and self aggrandisement rather than doing the job they were elected for.

I used to be scared of mine as it was truly mine (not a company car, not borrowed from the bank), and it was nine times the amount I'd previously spent on a car. I was worried more about scratching the paint than the break-ins (but that was 3 yrs ago).

Then I went on a Clang-N-Ball and stuffed it good and proper

Look at Other Marques and the discussion about Pug 205s. You can have almost the same amount of fun and don't give a stuff if it scratches coz it only cost a grand anyway.

add:

6. Parking in two spaces in car parks to avoid banging doors on the side.

Then that's me 6 out of 6.
I've installed CCTV on the side of my house to monitor it, until my G/F said that some people drive by with water pistols full of paint striper and spray the car. What am I to do about that?
