I posted this in drivetrain but didn't get a response, can you leave it here for a while? Thanks.

My clutch has just started slipping WOT in fifth . I've done a search on here and the cheapest people seem to be able to get a kit for is around £92 inc. vat for a standard item, but I can't find where this can be purchased from. Where can I get this £92 clutch? I know a little independent specialist I can get to fit it.

sounds a bit cheep mate,i think this will be a after market unit like luk or borg and beck and not an original unit.
have a word with rally colin who is always on the board some where he supplys and fits clutches the quote he gave me for supply and fit standard was in the region of £350,but dont forget you will most probably need an extra £100 for a flywheel skim.

I found it, it's from www.autospares-group.com/ and it's a Borg and Beck item. I'm not running stupid power (around 260bhp) so surely this would be OK? It's rated the same as the standard clutch surely? And will my Flywheel definately need skimming? From what I've read this isn't always neccessary.

I replaced mine with a borg and beck had no problems at all. Done a few 1/4 miles etc. Cost was £275 including the fly wheel being skimmed. It was done by a local transmission company in doncaster.

hmm your not looking at much cheaper than an AP organice if your talking £275 ish.
Labour is the Cost that puts the price up.
my AP was £750 inc VAT Fitting and Fly Wheel skimmed.
50% of its Fitting costs!

Cool

yep ditto as per salsa i paid £800 for AP racing organic clutch lightened flywheel & STi release bearings which wasn't a great deal more than yer bog standard scooby clutch but with the bonus of i can red line the bitch & have no risk of slipping. Not that i wood u understand, much, but it does make a fantastic improvement Put it this way with my pretty standard powered UK scoob (exhaust, centre & back box, with ITG panel filter only potential power mods) i had the best 60ft time over a P1, a STi & a Later UK car running more boost at santa pod last week! Sure they may of beat me over the 1/4 mile but the ability to stick the power to the wheels c/o my meaty clutch shouldn't be understated, i luv it & wots more my car didnt smell of mullered clutch at the end of the run bonus.
In other words it aint guna b cheap either way so my advice go 4 a better clutch for the marginal extra expense it's worth it

£275 all in compared to approx £700 all in? I know what I'd rather pay!

I'm running with a Borg and Beck clutch too, without a problem.
It's never juddered and never smelled, even when I drive like a maniac... (And IIRC there's a 3 yr guarantee anyway...) I don't think you can go too far wrong, as long as you're not running with a lot of TORQUE.

It cost me a bit more than £92, as Autospares weren't selling them at the time However, I did get it fitted quite cheaply.

Yeah I'm going to go with the Borg and Beck. Like I say I'm not running massive power or torque, so it should do me fine. I just hope my flywheel is OK
