Need to touch up a few chips now I've finally got a touch up pen. Do I remember correctly that the best way to do this is to use a toothpick rather than the brush supplied?
Cheers...

That touch up pen you've managed to get hold of! wouldn't happen to be Sonic blue would it? Could seriously do with one myself....! Is the dealer the best place to get them from? and yes the best way to apply the paint is with a cocktail stick!

Oh Brett, also ordered some P1 mudflaps at the same time (SACC2145) to prevent future chipping to the doors. They are really small flaps that just about cover the door recess at the bottom. They were £17.00 fitted.
Pen code is J3617FA012 if you need that although they should know what Sonic Blue is

I use a really fine paint brush from a craft shop (about 1 or 2mm). Try and build up a blob of paint in the chip - even if the blob is proud of the rest of the surface it will dry slightly concave. Build up with more paint as appropriate, then finish with laquer. Allow to harden and cut in with some polish. Works for me, although its a bit long winded.

Some Halfords branches (Don't laugh) will mix touch ups for you using the holts computer system that firms like "Chips Away" have.
The price is £6.99 for a small bottle which is about five times bigger than the touch in pens.
Alfa wanted a week to order it in and £9.99 for a touch in pen jobby.
My Cosmos Blue Alfa is very dark and highly metallic (Almost like blue/black mica, the paints in the mix were, in order......
Aluminium Chrome
Silver Chrome
Blue/Green
Violett
Dark Black
Orange
White.
The match is as perfect as you can get using a brush, I have to look really hard to find the chips that have been touched in. Its going to depend on how good and accurate your local Halfords employee is as too how good the match is though.

This is good stuff
Langka Chip Repair
If you have a chipped paint surface or exposed metal surface - clean the area thoroughly, use a matchstick or brush to apply some touch-up paint to the chip, allow it to dry, typically 45-90 minutes. This will leave the usual "blob" of touch-up paint visible on the surface. Wrap a smooth cloth around the included "buffing card". Apply LANGKA generously to the flat surface . Rub LANGKA over the "blob" for 15-30 seconds allowing it to penetrate and begin smoothing the "blob" of excess paint. Once the touch-up paint "blob" begins to wear off, rub gently until the excess paint is gone but paint is left inside the chip or scratch.
