When I first got my scooby I hoped that one day it might be as fast as a P1. That was my scoobymodding goal
Last night it was confirmed that this has been achieved
A few days ago my mate chucked me some G-tech accelerometer thingy. I was sceptical at first but I took the time to read the manual and set it all up. From what I gather they are pretty accurate.
I did a couple of 0-60's with a launch and usually got something in the region of 4.5-4.7s which I thought was great with a dodgy standard clutch. Without launches (i.e. fully engage clutch and nail it) she was good for about 5.3s
1/4 mile was in the region of 13.3 @ 108mph which again I think I could improve on if I was on a proper strip with a half-decent clutch. This gives a 0-100mph time of about 12-12.5s IMHO Given the stats on the P1 I'd say my car has it matched
What would be nice though is if someone could estimate/guess based on the above stats what sort of power the car has (its an MY99 with half tank of gas and my daily gubbins (CD's, etc) in it).
Diclaimer: Don't be offended P1 owners your car is still waaaaaaaaaay better than mine

Saxo Boy just so you can compare like with like, you need to take the acceleration figures with two people on board and a full tank of fuel, as that is how the figures are quoted by the magazines. Sounds like you are going to be very close with a good clutch.

Puff -- which bit don't you get? If it was 'two up' it suggest to me that it was SB driving and SiPie passengering. Then they tried the same in SiPie's car (SB passengering) and got the results SiPie quoted.

Carl is spot on with his detective work....
Both cars had roughly the same amount of fuel and the only downside is that I had to unplug the snooper when the accelerometer thingy was plugged in

Are these accelerometer thingies any good? The old downside to their use would be a lack of private testing ground...wouldnt fancy doing a full bore 1/4 mile on the Queens Highway

I can't imagine anyone doing that sort of thing on the Queens' Highway, even on country roads in the middle of nowhere late at night

They claim to be very accurate but strongly suggest that you do as much as possible yourself to ensure good testing. Multiple runs each way and take serveral samples and average them. For me it confirmed the three things I hoped to have achieved with the car: sub 5 to 60, 12-13 to 100 and a 1/4 mile of low 13s. On that note I'm pretty happy
Moreover, I run the car at 1.2bar which is 0.05bar below the maximum set by John Banks who is himself pretty conservative In short if I took the spare wheel out, my CD's maps, didn't eat, had a dump, fired in some booster and dialled up 1.3bar on the dawes I could maybe shave a few billionths of a second of those times on a proper strip
Or I could just buy a TVR

if you say so
I think the only times that matter are those that you get a slip of paper for..
I dont trust accelerometer (sp) thingys to be accurate.. where as timing gate at the pod or crail etc..
they are however a good 'indication' of how quick the car is..

Those G-tech accelerometer thingys are not proven to be acurate They are just for a guide In the real world the way to prove it would be to go to a quarter mile sprint and see what times that gives or get some pukka timing equipment like the mags use. Is Crail near you?

We'll both be going to Crail soon but alas that isn't accurate either. Everytime I post my standard VTS time of 15.3 on here or Saxosportsclub everyone comes back and says, 'pah, crail ain't accurate - only the Pod is accurate'
So lets be honest what do you need to do to correctly figure a car in a way that is acceptable to the masses. Seems to me you need to go to a multi-million pound 1/4 mile track that has two sets of timing equipment, an accelerometer, a GPS thingy, Sir Isaac Newton in the passenger side, Hawkins in the back and then make 100+ runs taking an average of them all and hoping the measuring devices all accord with each other
I did use it as a guide: Based on what it said I'm 0-60 in sub 5, 100 in 12-13 and low 13s 1/4 mile. All of this seems consistent with a car that has a full decat, tek 2.5, 1.2 bar on a dawes, an sti 5 intercooler and being thrashing to within a inch of its life

Cheers David and Paul
(David hope you feeling a bit cheerier today )
Can't speak for Kenny as contrary to popular belief 'we are not the same person' but personally I couldn't give a hoot about times .....the times I'm more interested in is 'how many times I fill the ****** with go juice' and how many more times it wants a new engine in the near futre
Surely the device is a good guide though and puts my 0-60 closer to 5.13 than 12 seconds, which hopefully means that I can still beat my Great Aunts' Hyundai Accent (auto) away from the lights .................. I hope

In my car a launch is holding 3k rpm then releasing the clutch and flooring it at the same time. This eliminates lag from the turbo and gets a fast getaway. The problem is its not as nice to the clutch as a normal getaway. I'd love a clutch that could take 6k rpm launches

lol at 6 k launches thats how mine went at a magazine shout out day. We were doing 0 to 60's with the proper timing gear and i was doin full bore 6 k launches. And i wondered why i had no clutch left at the end of the day lol.
