I just thought it would be quite interesting to see all the Scoobs having a timed blast around Curborough Sprint course in Lichfield.
It's far better than a straight drag, It's not as good as the track but it is when you consider the costs compared to the track.
Plus it would allow every Scoob to compete and not just the high powered ones.
Big brakes would'nt be an issue too as the run is relatively short.
There are days available for hire at no great cost.
Hijacking another clubs day would be better that way you could take advantage of the timing equipment once you have got your beam strut fitted which is a Blue Peter task.
As I say, it would be interesting to see the different specs around the twisties.
Any thoughts?

I went a westfield car club day there with Dizzy last year and a good little circuit. Maybe a bit tight for a scoob though but could be good for a laugh and good spectating as you can see most of the circuit from anywhere.

That could be interesting.
As for a bit tight for the Scoobies, I once saw a guy put a 760bhp SWB Quattro round there. (Ex-Michelle Mouton GpB Rally Car).
That WAS awesome !!!

Never too tight for a Scooby, they run everything there, even XJS jags have been known to run.
There is an Evo v that regularly runs there and would take some beating but certainly possible, nice benchmark though.
As for the Audi well, that's the best sight anywhere in the car world imo. I believe you are talking about the same car as I am, in which case the guy who owned it has sadly since passed away. The car was an ex-pikes peak replica that he used latterly but previous to that he ran the ex- Hannu Mikkola 44 WDN.
Oh, and he towed 44 WDN on a trailer being pulled by the road car version of it (1 of 200).
Where both cars are now I'm not sure but if you get the chance to see either perform then do. Watching 44 WDN run at Shelsley Walsh with Mikkola piloting it was awesome.

Tom Hammond's AUDI is now sleeping in a Museum, and his green tow car is for sale at Dyalynx.
I race at Curborough against that Evo (Roy Standley)and he can do the sprint in 33secs, my Scooby will cut very low 35's.
Did a private day there last October, a real blast. I have the phone number of the guy to talk to, Dave Patterson. The track is very busy almost every day in the summer, forget weekends.
Do it, far far better than any track day! It costs about 140£ for the morning, and 4 or 5 cars is just avout right, so £30 each, £10 per hour, value or what?
Graham.

Agreed Graham,
So that's where the Audi's are now.
A good Scooby can beat Roy's evo as I wouldn't necessarily rate him as a class driver having ran a car against him for a few years.
That aside it would be a good day with a load of Scooby's of all specs running against the clock.
Graham, did you share your 911 with Dave, have I the right Graham?

First off, no I did not share a 911, but have hill climbed my tweeked 911 for 10 years; it is pale yellow and would walk Curb in low 36's. Getting it(and me) to go faster was the real issue, and also at all the Midland Hills (Loton, Prescott and Shelsley)
This fact sent me on the Scooby trail some 2 years ago.
The Scooby is an STi V3 and was bog standard in the engine last year, but was running a huge 1.6 Bar boost unknown to me! No wonder it went well.... The chassis was on AVO's and Whiteline ALK and roll bars, but the tyres are Toyo's TS1's. (couldn't get any SO2's).
The trick at Curb is 'controlled agression' go flat out and you will be off!Very hard place to go fast, and I don't like it that much. Suits the 911 much better.
This year I have added full-on Whiteline suspension and a sorted engine giving 314 bhp for real. Wish me luck for next weekend (Loton Park Hill climb)there are some evil cars in my class.....
Nice to talk to sprint/hill climbers!

The event on the 30th of March was won by someone I know of in a Daihatsu Storia X4. 800cc ,AWD ,Sirion to you. His time of 37.94 was nearly a full second quicker than any other car and pretty good for such a small engine. Then it is pushing out about 180bhp !

Not sure if I saw this car last year, but if that is the time at Curb then it is bloody well driven! give that man a Scooby!
Remember on private days you don't get timing. The facility is very expensive, about 2K!
Stopwatch can work well though.
