Hiya all...
Having just purchased my first scooby (best thing I ever spent money on), I'm looking for any advice on the running and general looking after it, (obviously I understand it needs to be serviced every 10k etc,etc)....
How do people rate the standard Cat 1 Subaru alarm that the cars fitted with ??
Cheers

If it's one of the new shapes, then the services are 10k / 12 months. If it's older, it's 7.5k/6 months...
Welcome to the joy of scoobydom
I assume you've got the standard alarm, which is a Sigma M30 and it meets thatcham's requirements for Cat 1

For the alarm, you are best looking in the security forum.
For the others, try general or drivetrain. Have a search, or just ask there. Someone will come along.
Sorry i dont have the time at the moment.

You've got it
The security is OK. You might want to consider a trackin device as that'll bring down your insurance and give you peace of mind, and think about adding an anti-hijack device if you're worried about that.
One thing you can do very easily is set your doors to lock when the car is started. There should be instructions in the car alarm manual on how to do this, but that's definitely worthwhile

I'm new too...
After years of wanting, finally took plunge and bought 03 STi (or is it STI8). Visits to gas station now so frequent after 406 Diesel i'm now on first name terms with attendant. Car has paint damage (see soft paint thread) but of more concern is oil leak from ????. Car in dealer, and has not yet made first service. So how does this JD Power thing work?

Newby , just picked my scoob up today and I agree with you, however even though mines got an after market thatcham Cat 1 alarm (Scorpion i think) ive also added a tracker monitor system (it helped keep the insurance down) so you may want to think about that as well.
