5,000 rpm stutter?
#1
Is having a 'stutter' at aprox 5k rpm usual? IE, if foot is planted, as revs climb, the engine kind of lurches for a moment with a feeling of a hole in the power band. Not very desciptive I know, but wondered if this is normal. It happens in most gears and it's a MY02 WRX.
Any ideas?

Had something like this on my 98 with PPP. Very intermittant but unpleasent if your trying to overtake. Vague memory of an airflow solaniod being blamed, but problem disappeared after a service.

this is sad i know but in the handbook it quotes "the engine may,on rare occasions, knock when the vehicle rapidly accelerates or rapidly pulls away from a standstill. this phenomenon does not indicate a fault". i hope this helps but it's not good i know

Checked oil, just under the full mark. It's not like the engine stops, more like a 'lump'. Not very good at explaining am I?!!! It's due in for its service in 2 weeks so will take a bod out to show them what's happening though I bet it doesn't do it then!
Thanks for the help though!

I had this on my MY00, a new set of plugs cured it, best to check how long the plugs have been in, anything over 30k and it might be worth checking...
