God bless my wonderful Scooby!!
Okay, so it's only a Dark Blue Mica UK MY00 with PPP, but after today I will NEVER criticise it again...
I've just returned from a Vauxhaul garage. This morning at 11.00am, I had the opportunity to test drive a VX220 Turbo. I got up bloody early, for a Saturday, and was fairly excited at the prospect of driving this car. However, little did I know that I would be back in my Scooby at 11.10am!!
When I arrived at a couple of minutes to eleven, I was directed to the showroom so I could have a look at the VX220 (non-turbo) on display. The salesman was out with a previous customer and had not returned by that time. My wife and I looked over the car and we were pretty impressed, although she preferred her MX-5's 'hairdressers' looks. It had its hard top firmly in place and as I examined the general design and feel of the car I began to realise that this vehicle was even more cramped than the MX-5...
So, I decided not to waste anymore time. I attempted to climb in to the car and to cut a long story short, I couldn't!! I could get into the passenger side with a struggle and I could also get into the driver's side without the roof, but let's face it, we live in the UK - it p*sses down all the time! The position of the steering wheel would not allow easy access to the car with the roof in place...
So, the salesman appeared and I had to break it to him, 'Sorry mate, but we will have to cancel the test drive because I am a big, fat b*stard!!' We all had a giggle and he then informed me that a few other potential customers have had similar problems!
I got back into my Subaru and it was huge and comfortable and fast (well, fast enough for me anyway!)
So, big fatties and tall b*stards beware. The VX220 Turbo is probably a great car, as long as you're not over 6 foot 2 and 100kg!!

Yep a m8 had an elise and he struggled and he is small. Luckily he had a removable steering wheels but still ackward unitl he got the knack.
No chance me getting in it either so I didnt even bother.
They build these cars for little blokes where as a scoob is a "bigger" mans car .

I got into the VX220 on the stand at the Geneva motor show. Had one helluva job trying to get out - 183cm and 96kg does not for a Vauxhall driver make ! Midgets only methinks.

Thanks for all the comments!
I would just like to add that my wife had difficulty with the driving position - she is 5'2" - she couldn't push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor even with the seat all the way forward!! She also had problems getting in and out!
I think the VX220 is a car for genetically modified people! Consider the situation - do you want your child to:
- have superior intelligence
- have physical prowess
- be able to fit into a VX220!!
