subaru letters on boot
#1
My STi8 has 'SUBARU' on the bootlid. How do I take the naff letters off without damaging the paintwork? Are they stuck on with double sided tape. If so the tape must cost more than the letters!

I'm told that a hair drier to soften the glue and dental floss to "saw" through the tape works quite well although I've never tried it myself.
Are you keeping the old letters? If not, I wouldn't mind relieving you of them

By some weird coincidence I have the same letters on my STi7
Decided to keep 'em on there as it's the part of the car which gets viewed the most and there's nothing like advertising
Oops ! Just realized where I am...time to get back in the hutch

Just the hairdryer worked fine for me. Got the letter nice and warm, then rotated it gently . Nearly allthe adhesive came off, then just a quick polish with Autoglym extra gloss protection finished the job off.

Cal, no m8, you're not the only one - I like to let people know what has just passed them by - or what they can't catch
I consider it a duty and others whom I've let take the wheel seem to feel the same way without me having to say a word - strange but true

I tottally agree, the Subaru decals look very cheap and the STI in pink is even worse. I have taken the lot off, i think there is an element of anti theft here as well, what do you all think...

Dead right. I could do with getting rid of the rear spoiler, lovely that it is - Why can't the sti be a Q car?
Well maybe not a proper Q car, but a tad more subtle.

I've just noticed the count of views to this thread.
Are we all sad gits or what? over 700 views about the sh one t letters on a £25,000 car.
Oh well, could be worse - we could be talking about something important. I feel such a plonker wasting everybody's time about something so mindboringly trivial.
Well, if it's so boring, why are YOU reading it? Saddo

Single letters can be bought from www.kickingriffin.com, its mainly vauxhall but you can buy the letters in gold or chrome. I got SCOOBY in gold just be careful when cleaning the gold letters as they must plate it very thin and i rubbed it off. They were good though and sent me a new set laquered
