PPP being done!
#1
A few weeks ago i asked people for their replies about the exhaust noise if I have my 02 WRX fitted with a PPP. Had some good positive replies, so took your advice and I am having a PPP plus suspension fitted next thursday 13th. I am still a little bit worried, being a "30 something mum". But I hope I enjoy it!.
Ta for all your help

Tracey,
I had a similar feeling of uncertainty when I was considering the PPP for my Scooby (MY00). I was worried about the drone from the exhaust on long motorway journeys, etc. I had the PPP fitted in May 2002 and I have NEVER looked back. I cannot speak for the MY02 but the PPP transforms an MY00 into a completely different car!! It's the way the car should have been built in the first place!
Exhaust - you will notice that the car has developed a very nice burble when idling. However, the exhaust is only 'loud' when you are using the throttle heavily, above about 3,500rpm. If you are thrashing along with your foot to the floor, you REALLY will hear the exhaust. However, cruising along in fifth, holding the car at about 90mph (~3,500rpm), you will not hear the exhaust unless you plant your foot to the floor!
That probably doesn't make any sense, but you will understand what I'm talking about once you get the car back!
It's the best £2,000 I've ever spent!
Have fun!

Sorry, not very quick off the mark today!
I'm off to sit in a corner, on my own and cry...
I also don't feel too good after a bit of a heavy night last night, but that's best forgotten.

Poshbird.I had the same worries of noisy exhausts before my PPP was fitted. The new exhaust looks good and sounds great, not much louder than the standard pipe but noticably deeper.Obviously gets louder on full boost but doesnt resonate in the cabin and doesnt sound boyracer ish, just powerfull flat 4.Doesnt spoil the car at all.Hope you enjoy your PPP as i have.

2k for a budget backbox and off the shelf remap is a total con.
Get your car mapped live and get a decent exhaust and put the spare 1K back in the bank do it properly dont waste your cash on rubbish.

I think the fact that it keeps your warranty valid and adds value to the car come sale time helps to justify the price, also last time I looked it was £1600 for the WRX PPP.
Enjoy it Poshbird, I am (but it doesn't stop you thinking about more mods after it!)

Well i have to say that being in your 30's, dont stop you having a bit of fun in your car does it?. Only when the kids are at school though!. Last week i had a little race with another scooby on 2 motorways and the A34, we were annoying this merc driver, it was funny at the time, you had to be there kinda thing. The fastest i been in my scooby (without ppp) is almost 140, mind you was one of those days when you got somewhere without knowing how you got there!!!, that happen to anyone else?. When i looked down at the speedo, i scared myself i slowed down to 80!!!.

Too bloody right lucky_strike!
POSH,
I forgot to mention. Has your car got a quickshift or what? If it hasn't that is an essential purchase for an MY00 (not too sure about the MY02). I had the Prodrive one fitted and it's great. I'm sure there are other one's around that are just as good.
